According to APUSH the USS Maine exploding, the De Lome Letter insulting McKinley, and the Reconcentration policy by General Weyler (something that some have equates to Concentration camps/even worse American Indian Reserves) which was hit with Yellow Journalism which sensationalized it and essentially overinflated everything. Then came the Teller Amendment mid-war, I think which stated we wouldn't annex Cuba, which would become our Protectorate. Also, there's the Amendment we put in their constitution when they made one, that made it illegal for them to make decisions that would leave them in foreign debt aside from the US's. In the SPAM War (lasted 15 weeks, also called the Splendid Little War) US seized Phillipines, fought in Cuba with TR's RRs who would win a victory at the cost of quite a few African-American soldiers - also, more men were lost to disease, and accidents than in actual battles. That war would see the world viewing the US a world power, albeit not the most powerful one, but a world power nonetheless. From this war arose the Insular Cases which decides, the Constitution doesn't follow the flag, and so Puerto Rico, Guam, and Phillipines (the Amerixan spoils in this war) would not receive the rights of American citizens. Also, because of the War, America and Phillipino Rebels would go to war until eventually US won and Taft Commission took over there. This is all I can remember about this subject.

I love your story so much it's weird but I like it. Also Spain also helped America with the revolutionary war so maybe if America is planning war you could make Spain side with America maybe?. Other than that keep up the great work.
