Footsie chapter 1 . 5/11/2016 Love the jubliee & wolverine! |
griezz chapter 1 . 1/15/2016 Wonderful little exploration of Jubilee's state of mind right near the beginning of her time as an X-Man. I wasn't a reader way back then, so I never saw how it was shown in the comics. This is a lovely substitute. |
silverthorne chapter 1 . 12/22/2012 While waiting for another update on Blackdewinthemorning's "The Meaning of Pain," I discovered your site, and this wonderful story. Admittedly, Jubilee has never been a favorite of mine, but this lovely story of yours made me appreciate her. Your Logan here is also just what I like to read about him - sensitive, intuitive, and caring, despite his feral nature, dangerous killer skills, and his gruff ways. ...and I always have a soft spot for an owl! Great story, fine characterizations, and few - if any - grammatical horrors! I printed this out as a Christmas gift to myself! Thank you so much for sharing this! |
Omgu8mynewt chapter 1 . 11/20/2012 Wow, this is so quiet and descriptive I could feel and smell the hay and whiskey. Really good job. |
Writingaddict2 chapter 1 . 7/29/2012 This is a very engaging story! I like how you've written it and I can't wait to see where this goes next! |
Jeanniebird chapter 1 . 7/5/2012 This is a very beautiful story which shows the true roots of Logan’s and Jubilee’s unusual friendship. On the one hand they already forged the bond that will tie them together for the years to come, this bond of trust, friendship and love. On the other hand, they still have to get two know each other. Simple things like the fact that Jubilee doesn’t speak Chinese or that Logan’s enhanced senses enable him to smell lies. I like the way your story ties in with the comics, for example Logan’s hallucinations of Carol and Nick. “He took a cigar from his pocket, considered it, put it back” This is such a tiny sentence, but it stuck out to me. In that small little gesture Logan reveals how much he cares about Jubilee. He puts her well being and health over his craving for a cigar. It very small and fundamental, but I think that makes it even more powerful. There was also this scene where Jubes wondered if Logan’s healing factor can also heal the scars on the inside. That moment showed how young she still is, how inexperienced and to a certain degree how innocent she is as well. Jubes later on asks Wolverine why he drinks so much alcohol but she apparently doesn’t make the connection to her question, because the drinking is an indirect answer to it: His HF can do nothing against the ‘invisible wounds’. “You're my lifeline. Without you, I wouldn't be here. Without you I wouldn't be goin' on.” Of course you found a way to sneak these words into the story. Logan places his life completely in her hand. It’s also one of these warm-feeling-in-the-stomach-lines which leave me with an absent look and a blissful smile on my face. “There it was again. A few words from Wolvie and she was all warm and glowy inside.” When I read this I couldn’t help but think ‘Truer words were never spoken. And it goes for me, too’. I like that Jubilee overcomes her fear of using powers because it might have fatal results. She does it for Wolvie and I think his support convinced her to try. Furthermore, she’s very protective of him, as she proves when she defends him against his Nick Fury phantom. I love it that Jubilee is protecting (successfully I might add) the men who patented the phrase ‘I can take care of myself’ and he even allows her to do so. Moreover, I love the subplot in Logan’s words. You wrote this story from Jubes’ POV, but if you look closely there is a lot more meaning behind his words. I especially liked it as he talked about his fears, he never actually said what he is actually afraid of, but the reader can figure this out on his own. All in all, an absolutely amazing story at the very beginning of their friendship. I love it :-) Jeannie |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/4/2012 Nice story. I like a lot. |
MidLifeCrisis chapter 1 . 7/4/2012 I'm frustrated over FFN's new set up. I thought I was logged in when I posted my review. Checking it, I show up as a Guest. Pffft! Any way, what I said in my review but consider it 'official' now. -MLC |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/4/2012 I just finished reading through all of your postings. I can't believe I hadn't found you before. You write beautiful scene descriptions that truly enhance your stories. You seem to have Wolvie and Jubes characterisation down pat. I especially enjoy your version of Logan's softer side. It's difficult to do that 'right', IMO. Thanks for sharing your talent. I'll be watching for new stuff from you. -MLC. |
