Guest chapter 19 . 8/8 I don’t know if you’ll ever read this comment, but I first started reading Strings in 2017 and I have reread it completely several times since then because I love it so much. With the resurgence of Avatar lately, I think it would be wonderful to add a little sequel to Strings. This art piece of storytelling deserves to be revisited in 2020! |
Cherryl chapter 19 . 8/2 IT'S 20W0, WHERE'S THE EPILOGUE. okay that was aggressive but I'd like to say, thank you thank you thank you for making this fic. |
Val Tazmynk chapter 19 . 6/17 This honestly deserves to be published... it was so well written, it had me reading till 4.30 in the morning... i was so thrilled, frustrated and excited. I was loving the impressive vocabulary and was extremely sad to come to the end of this book. :( I really appreciate you author, taking the time to write such a masterpiece; thank you :)))))) |
FadedGloryyyChief Sosa chapter 19 . 2/27 I was intrigued from the very first chapter, my only fear was that Korra and Tarrlok would never make it back. I also love your different ending of Season 1, I preferred that Tarrlok stayed alive, it made room for a better redemption story. Your writing is Amazing, I honestly haven’t come across a lengthy fanfic like this one in years, let alone had the attention span to finish it, but this one was so detailed and entertaining. I felt like I was in the story from the way that you described each setting. I followed and favorited you, I hope that you think about writing a Season 2 fanfic. Rating 10/10 :) (I don’t give too many of these lol) |
Guest chapter 19 . 2/19 This is a necessary warning. This story is supposed to be completed, but the ending feels rushed and abandoned. Don't read it unless if you have a lot of free time. |
Sammi chapter 19 . 5/9/2019 So I just reread this whole story and omg this story was so so so good! Like I was seriously worried how Korra and Tarrlok would resume their relationship and if Korra could continue with it given the dubious nature that it started in but omg this was an incredible story about doing what it takes to survive, and maturing through the process. Korra has always been herself here and I loved seeing her mature and handle problems differently. Lowkey tho I’m happy she and Tarrlok aren’t together because that is really messed up power dynamics. I loved Asami and their friendship and as a huge korrasami shipper I love seeing their friendship bloom. Overall this was great. Thank you so much for writing this and I can’t wait to read your epilogue! |
Sammi chapter 19 . 5/7/2019 Omg I can't believe you finished it! I gotta go and reread the whole story again im defintely missing some parts but I had this bookmarked as a favorite and I clicked on it randomly today to see that its actually finished yay! Congrats on another finished story! |
Nessie chapter 19 . 2/7/2019 What a trip. What an incredible read! I am actually kind of in love with Tarrlok now. The idea of a non bending Avatar just blew my mind. It is so perfect I actually think the original series dun goofed by not coming up with that idea. Your writing skills are superb, the pace had me biting my nails and breathless, and the plot was so good I suspect you must be a professional writer who is writing fanfiction in their spare time. Thank you for a most enjoyable read! |
Guest chapter 19 . 2/6/2019 This was an interesting idea handled well, though not without it's problem. The relationship has the most development and even though that's the main plotline, it comes at the expense of others. Once a plotline other than the romance is the focus, you speed through it giving a rushed feeling, especially torwards the end. You being up the morallity of Tarrlok way too much, beyond the point where the audience gets it, makong it redundant. The village they lived in could have been expanded upon to make us feel more emotional weight when they leave. It also could have been given a much better conclusion than what we were given, it just felt like it was forgotten despite it being important to the story. |
Kakarot Son chapter 19 . 2/3/2019 Your writing style is incredible. You have every single character down to an absolute T and somehow, you always manage to nail the amount of description required - be it a sentence, a paragraph or, most tellingly, nothing at all. This story was an absolute treat to read. The fact that you took a character that I didn't particularly care for and a pairing that I cared for even less and made me appreciate both says enough. I loved how you played the opening chapters with meticulous detail. Lesser writers would have cracked and let the shipping overtake the story too soon, before it made sense, but you let it build up naturally. You were never afraid to call it out for being twisted but you juxtaposed that by giving us a reason to care. On Korra's part, it evolves beyond Stockholm syndrome and the fantastic thing is that you're never quite sure when because the process bleeds through so gradually that you only realise how different things are when you take the time to look back. The trickiest part of a fic like this is getting someone like Tarrlok right. You did the tragedy of his backstory justice but avoided playing your hand too early. We got to see the monster initially, and the thoughts that justified his actions. Then, the attempts to pretend that it had never happened - that it was just an inconsequential burst of anger that was to be the origin of their new life together. And finally, we got to see the regret. There was a point where I was convinced that they were going to live in that small town in the Earth Kingdom forever and that the situation in Republic City would resolve itself somehow. It would have been a copout but I would have accepted somewhat reluctantly because I felt that invested in the lives of Senna - excellent touch with the name by the way - and Taruq. But you took it back and handled it in a believable manner. The way Asami picked up on their relationship (even before she saw the kiss, it felt), the gang's reluctant acceptance of Tarrlok, the deterioration of the situation in Republic City - it was all solid. I was afraid that you were going to retread cannon with Amon. For a chapter, or maybe half, it felt like it was headed that way. The writing was mature enough that I convinced myself to continue reading because it would've been the best damn adaption of the Season 1 finale I've ever read. In the end, I was pleasantly surprised. One of the most disappointing things about Korra for me was the way her bending was handed back to her at the end of S1. I would have loved for her to grapple with recovering the other elements over the course of a season, only being able to airbend. You provided an equally compelling solution that I had never really considered - it would not have been such a bad thing for her to lose all her bending. And for that to be a good thing - a positive perhaps, rather than strictly a negative. It makes sense, thematically, given the whole equalist movement in S1 and now I'm almost sad that the show didn't opt for such a route itself. I could gush on about this story for paragraphs more: the way Korra and Tarrlok's relationship faded when her friends came back into the story but never truly died as opposed to suddenly being accepted by everyone because reasons, how Korra remained Korra and Korra only through the entire fic, to how you complemented the Noatak and Yakone cannon. I also have to praise your limited usage of Korra's past lives. Every time Aang showed up, it was meaningful and it made sense. The part with Rei was excellent and I wouldn't blink if you told me it had been alluded to in the show. Ultimately, this story gets so much right and so little wrong that I have to conclude that - at it's best - it's a shining example of what fanfiction ought to be. It's been a long time since I've had an opportunity and the desire to read a story on this site. Thank you so much for reminding me why I love fanfiction. From the first chapter to the last, this story was a fantastic ride. Congratulations, you truly deserve to be lauded with all the praise you get. |
Roeding chapter 19 . 11/24/2018 This is one of my favorite stories! I know I shouldn't like this couple, but dang. Kudos! Thanks for exploring the emotional side of Korra. |
reeader chapter 8 . 10/6/2018 Holy shit, part 8 is awesome. The scene in bed when he whisperes all the manipulations is so tense and it's an absolute masterpiece. I was a bit disappointed with loving Tarrlok at some point but chapter 8 is an amazing turn and is so in-character. This fanfic is just gold, my favourite of all the fanfics. |
cafeanna chapter 1 . 9/4/2018 I adore everything about this chapter. The subtle call backs to the water tribe, Tarrlok’s childhood, and preparing for fleeing the city. Why am I not even surprised that Tarrlok had all of that ready. And Ohmigod I really felt the struggle when he gave her his mother’s necklace |
Guest chapter 4 . 2/7/2018 I genuinely smiled and laughed and felt everything Korra was feeling when she got into the Spirit World. This story hits a little close to home since my abusive ex made leaving him hard. I tried to leave on several occasions, but he would threaten me and make me feel like leaving him was out of the question. Thank God I got away from him. To get away from him, I had to play it safe, say things he wanted to hear, do what he wanted me to do. I bid my time and when I was given the perfect opportunity to leave, I took it. And I never looked back since. So when Korra was able to "leave" by going to the Spirit World, I had felt so joyous for her, knowing this was a step for her. I can't wait to see what you do with this! |
AMS-Topaz chapter 9 . 2/8/2018 OH MY GOSH KORRA DID IT THEY GOING BACK! I honestly loved this chapter! Idk y a lot of pple get butthurt abt self harm and other sensitive issues since it's a story that feels real bc of these issues being in the story. I had witnessed my own family self harm and even though i was the youngest, i talked them out of suicide on more than one occasion. But when the self harm part came up i was just like "korra wut u doing? Guess ill read on and find out" and oh boy when i found out i squealed in delight that it was part of her plan to play with him to escape! |
