Bravo! A fantastic ending to a positively enthralling, well-written story. :) Definitely going to mark this one as a favorite to reread when I'm in the midst of my own writer's block.

I love the way you ended the story; considering the sometimes dark, tormented moments in the plot, the ending was just the right amount of positivity needed - not too much, since it is Tanith after all, but enough to give the impression that she had in fact finally found atonement.

I look forward to more works from you in the future!
Licoriceallsorts chapter 18 . 8/15/2012
Lovely ending, really well pulled together.
You know, with everything that's happened in their world, there must be plenty of mysteries needing to be solved. I expect Tanith could be in work for a long time to come, if she wanted.

I love/hate Tanith. She's gonna rejoin, but I don't want her to. What about atonement, Tanith!? I dislike ShinRa, as interesting as they are. I love/hate Tanith.
Licoriceallsorts chapter 16 . 8/2/2012
I totally agree with what the other reviewer had to say about the grit and honesty of this fic. I like your Reeve, who is a twisty bugger, and I like the fact that he doesn't exert complete control over his troops and that they aren't entirely loyal to him - but are loyal to their buddies. This comes across as much more realistic and true to their characters than the idea that they are all willing to die for him down to the last man and woman.

Tanith's an unusual character. Though far from sympathetic, she has wholly engaged my interest. I think you've succeeded in making her 100% Turk and your Turks are totally believable. One of the things I find intriguing is that when we first met her in chapter one, she was talking about atonement, and I rather assumed she meant the same kind of atonement that Rude in ACC talks about - the atonement Shinra owes to the world. But she doesn't really care much about 'the world' - she doesn't seem at all worried that the generous farmer and his family might catch geostigma from her, for instance - her remorse seems to be focused entirely on the way she betrayed her fellow Turks, which is a very Turk-like attitude, I think.

Can't wait for the next chapter and hearing what Rufus has to say. I'm also dying to know what happened to Cissnei.

Thank you! You update much more quickly than most authors - especially me...

What a difficult position the president has put Tanith in, making her report on her own colleagues. No wonder she feels torn. I love the way she reluctantly begins to open up to Elena, and the way you show her physical discomfort echoing her mental struggles: "I pulled at my sleeves, suddenly feeling as if my clothing was constricting me in all of the wrong places. I had an itch on my foot that I could not make go away. This conversation could not go well."

Tanith is a convincing Turk here, instantly remembering to silence her phone even when in shock about Cissnei's betrayal. You show her loneliness - her sense of being an outsider - powerfully, and I really like the way she remembers Elena's sister so vividly. Her strong sense of her own weaknesses - "my own verbal impotency had rarely stung so badly" - makes her very human. The more I read this story, the more I like her. Thank you for writing.

I just signed up for this website and your story was one of the first that I've come across while scouring the many FFVII entries. I have to say, your writing is stellar - I'm typically not a fan of first-person stories, but yours is written with such clarity that I easily find myself experiencing what Tanith is. You've also done a fantastic job of keeping everything canon with regards to FFVII (particularly from the ACC standpoint) and THANK you for keeping Vincent's persona intact! His, in my opinion, is one of the most interesting in the FFVII series, and you've done him a great justice.

I particularly enjoyed the minute details that you describe throughout the story, from the grisly mention of the crematorium to the dinginess of Tanith's motel room. It's a pleasure to read something that hasn't been sugar-coated to high heaven, as it lends a sense of realism that at times can get lost when writing fiction. And again, the writing flows together so smoothly it's as if a movie were playing in my mind - which, in my opinion, is a reflection of good writing talent.

The only downside is: I need more! ) I absolutely cannot wait to read on about what happens next in Tanith's story - for now, I'll have to suffice with rereading it again! Thanks again for sharing this with us!

I'm going to go through and reread this at some point, reviewing as I go, because generally I like giving feedback on each chapter. The downside to updating quickly is that if you update before people have a chance to find your story and review, you'll end up with more chapters than reviewers. That's the only explanation I can think of as to why a story this good doesn't have more reviews.

I'll admit, at first I was a bit unsure if I would love this story. I'm the kind of person who likes having information and Tanith is meant to make us question. Who is she? What has she done? So I was left guessing, and given that many writers either don't know about BC canon or choose to ignore it, I felt like her back story could have been anything and I just wanted to know so badly because she is so intriguing.

So it was great to finally have that revealed, and it makes perfect sense. She was loyal to the President, to Shin-ra more than she was loyal to the Turks, so that makes her a traitor in Tseng's eyes.

I loved the interaction between her and Elena in the last chapter, and will probably comment on that more later.

This is the best thing I've read on this damn website! Truly solid gold, this thing. Good lord. What the hell? Shit! That's all there is to be said about it. Just shit, damn. Fuckin' excellent in every aspect. I started reading it on a whim and haven't been able to peel myself away from it. Just... Shit!
