You should replace him by OC.

1.) Ash's pikachu doesn't know slam

2.) this chapter felt a bit stilted to me. I'm not a hundred percent sure why, but Ash's and Joesph's interactions just felt off. It's like "I though you were dead...wanna battle?". Not much in the way of emotion.

3.) I think it would have been better to introduce Blaine in the next chapter. Having him here make it feel like he was shoved in.

4.) It would have been nice to have a little bit of insight into where Brock and Misty went. As it stands, it feels like they were missing just for the sake of the 'plot' and nothing else. Makes the chapter seem a bit lazy.

5.) The Ash/Ash joke was funny for all of .2578746 seconds. Then it got really old. Like a fruit fly.

1.) You have one gaping hole in your theory in the beginning. That hole would be the pre-historic pokémon. If pokémon were truly outcompeting their 'regular' counterparts as brutally as you suggest, they would have wiped them out a long time ago.

2.) There are a few sightings of 'regular' animals smattered throughout the anime, as well as a few mentions. Most notably any scenes that take place underwater during the earlier generations. This would suggest 'regular' animals, while not dominant, are at least surviving and due to the vast resources the Pokémon World has been shown to have, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't be able to get the things they need to survive (heck, I imagine most herbivores could set up shop near a torterra and be dandy). If there are enough supplies to go around, then outcompeting wouldn't be an issue.

3.) If Joseph's acting silly for Caleb's sake, please make that a bit clearer. I found it just a bit jarring.

Why does this exist? What purpose did Joseph have in antagonizing Rick? It just makes him look like a jackass.

Beyond that, it's a fine chapter as far as mechanics go.

You just couldn't let Joseph lose, could you? The chapter was turning out so well, but then you just had to pull that 'they're brothers' bit out of your rear end. Words cannot adequately describe how ashamed of you I am.

Why does this story list Ash as a character when the main character is an OC and Ash doesn't seem to have an appearence.

The first chunk of the chapter was OK, particularly the dang dirty hippie.

After that, you spiraled downward into an ever increasing pile of crap. I could list all the ways in which you failed, but to do so I'd have to sit here and type for no less than an hour.
