Great idea about the ID chips, very skillfully played out with the conversation and the fabricated story Luke put together. Unfortunately the truth had to come out and now how will they get out without being made?

I love the honesty of their conversations and how Luke continues to be blatantly honest with Vader, pushing him to be more open and vulnerable.

I just found the story and I'm absolutely enthralled by it, I love it! I love everything about it so far, how the characters are written, how you describe the details so perfectly. What a lovely chapter! You wrote Luke's and Vader's reconnection with the force and with each other so well! Very emotional and tangible.

This is great. I mean like really, really great. I like how you explain Luke's relation to the Force: '...not with him today.' I would have never thought write it that way. My only small critique is you tell me what he's thinking but never what he's feeling. What does he feel when he pushes the main drives to the limits or when Vader is pushing his way into Luke's mind? Is it like a hypodermic needle or a sledgehammer? A little bit of feeling once in a while, I think, will take this from 9.89 to a 10.

This is a phenomenal start, and I'm excited to continue reading!

Honestly I rather figure that the general minimal information and mythos surrounding the Jedi to the worlds at large was part of why their mind-tricks worked so well on so many. Certain types of jobs/roles/positions/titles carry an automatic reserve of trust with them, making them especially useful to imitate well for many purposes. For example, most people will tell a Doctor or Nurse a lot of things they would otherwise avoid speaking about, entirely because they're medical professionals. Jedi were nigh revered by a huge percentage of the populations as some degree of "Ultimate Honorable Monk/Superhero" and that carried a ton of trust (particularly to anyone who had not interacted with them closely enough or under the right circumstances to get pissed off at them for various reasons). Thus, a lot of people would already be inclined to believe their words or be lenient with them or consider bending rules for them without the tricks, making it even easier to press them into doing it with careful mental nudging.

Even after reading only one chapter I can tell this will be a good fic. I'm used to a bit different stories, but I think I'll be able to stick with this one :)

Will there be a conversation between Luke and Anakin about their previous conversation about Luke and Han competing for Leia? Or are they going to try to ignore that that conversation ever happened?

Ah! Leia is captured!? That will be interesting to see how Luke and Anakin handle this.
