There's a little... continuity error? ... because I think Gandalf's clothes burned on him when he battled the balrog in Moria. But it's a tiny error; I love how this comes together.

You know, I have to say that I'm very impressed by this story. This is one of those times where I seem to have found a new gem to add to my collection of very favorite stories— I've been reading fanfiction for about 8 years, and of the veritable thousands of stories that I've read, only 23 (now 24) have made it to that list; this is simply and beautifully written, telling a short yet touching tale that has left a profound mark upon me.
The way in which you have merged the stories of two worlds so seamlessly is something that a few hundred authors could benefit from learning.
