Reverend I'm a Jesus Freak chapter 2 . 9/8/2012 Great story. I like how you got them to see love for each other. I also like the action figure as Po's trophy. You have a lot of great ideas. |
Gdown94 chapter 2 . 8/23/2012 I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by this chapter. Coming in, I thought that I wouldn't like it, as I thought the story was perfect as a one shot. However, I must say that you've won me over on this matter - this chapter is an excellent addition to the story. Taken in the context given at the beginning, it sheds a great deal of light on HEG (and vice versa, for that matter). I loved the intimacy in this story. Not the fluffy, cheesy kind, but a true, realistic sort of intimacy. This elaborates quite well on the nature of their relationship with one another at this moment. There is no outspoken love, but there is definitely a spark. As somewhat of a side note, or a change of pace, I'll go ahead and comment on the form of Ch. 10 of HEG. To be honest, by the time I got to the end of that chapter I completely forgot that you asked that we comment on it. So, albeit a bit late, here are my thoughts on that matter. I was a little bit leery of it at first, as at first glance it seemed to make the story seem almost like some sort of story-song fic half breed, but it turned out alright. To be honest, given the nature of the chapter, I think the form worked out pretty well. It's a bit like the scenes in both KFP movies where they used semi-energetic music and an amalgamation of various scenes to indicate a passing of a stretch of time. It's that wonderful trick hollywood likes to use to skip months of training. And I think it works well, again given the nature of the chapter. However, like salt on food it should be used sparingly - I don't think you could successfully use it again in the near future, so I would try to avoid it for a little while. Remember the purpose for which it is intended (btw, I hope I'm guessing your purpose correctly...), and apply it accordingly. As always, you're a great writer and I really enjoy reading your stories. I look forward to your next update, whatever it is on. |
MusicalNinja15 chapter 2 . 8/23/2012 I love these! It was a perfect twist on Hall of Lame. You have the characters nailed. Loved it! Keep up the great work! |
TheMysteriouswatcher chapter 2 . 8/21/2012 You, sir or madame, need to update. Quickly. |
The Unbound Writer chapter 2 . 8/21/2012 Thanful on how you had Tigress interact with Po on this one. In my opinion, however, Tigress's "guilt" and "thankful" mind quotes appeared too often for me. I feel as if each one should have some significance, rather than popping up whenever Po was the subject matter. Other than that, this story is great! Also, HHEGHF has had many improvements, up until the point to where many people CAN'T criticise it anymore. Stay Unbound my friend. |
The Unbound Writer chapter 1 . 8/21/2012 Greatness. I really appreciate how you kept the characters in character, despite what LoA did to them. As always, much respect man |
Sage of Earth chapter 2 . 8/21/2012 oh that was a really cute chapter. i can't wait to read more |
Raven Morning chapter 1 . 6/13/2012 I really enjoyed reading this! you did a great job of capturing Po's character, humor and attitude. I would love to see a possible follow-up between Po and Tigress, perhaps expanding and continuing from the end? either way, great story! |
TheMysteriouswatcher chapter 1 . 6/11/2012 Alright, first things first. I do not comprehend, I simply do not understand, yeah, I'll say it, I can't even GRASP the fact that this story doesn't have more reviews. Granted, it hasn't been up for too long, but still. People duck in and out in the KFP archives, and this is definately a story a smart person would R&R! Ahem... Now on to the story itself. To start with, I really like the concept. The new kind of way Po uses to express his feelings is very creative and very sweet. Then, the talk between Po and Tigress was also great. Even though I got slightly disappointed when all she did was say good night (which is actually correct to her character), that was quickly repaired by the last line. I found few to none spelling or grammar errors, but one (the only one, by the way), that caught my attention was when you spelt ''secceeded'', it's supposed to be ''succeeded''. Of course, this error is very minor and I don't think most people will even notice it. Other than that, it's pretty much clear as far as spelling and grammar goes. For paragraphing, there's not much to say. You've done an awesome job in breaking the story up in the correct paragraphing manner, and that really helps in reading the story, considering that I've seen more than one author who constantly jumbles everything up in the same paragraph, and that is really annoying. Like above, the characterization is also pretty much clean, and there's not much to say. Although, like our friend Gdown94 here says, Tigress shouldn't have been such as cold as she was. I mean, she came to respect Po greatly after he defeated Tai Lung, but I think it's a good thing you made her soften up a little. I know that she's been trained to not show any emotion, and I really like it that you had her soften up just a little and not the entire way. That is so much like Tigress, nice job nailing it. Other than what I've said in this review, there's nothing more to point out. Excellent job producing this fic, it's definately going into my favorites. Nice job! /Alex, TMW. |
Gdown94 chapter 1 . 6/10/2012 I'm going to be honest - this is one of the best stories I've read here in a while. Everything fell in perfectly, the plot, the characters, etc. I thought the plot progressed perfectly, with an even balance of ambiguousness and clarity. The concept is/was excellent. I know I said this two sentences ago, but I can't stress this enough - the plot was very well thought out. The ending was especially good (in my opinion), and, in all honesty, realistic. I don't think Tigress is the type to instantly fall in love, at least not openly. Speaking of Tigress, and this is my only qualm, I though she was a bit too harsh. I think she would have been a bit softer about her 'interrogation', with perhaps a slightly higher shade of curiosity and inquisitiveness (think of how people behave when they are trying to find out if someone likes them, and I mean the strong version of like, as in a step below love). This is a minor issue, though; the story flows well as is, and honestly, I'm a bit guilty of making Tigress overly stoic myself. On the whole, I liked how you portrayed the characters. I thought Shifu and Po, particularly Po, were spot on. You are one of the few authors I've met who are able to capture Po's playful yet serious nature, and of these authors, I think your dialogue is the most natural for Po's character. The only fault I find in Po's character in this story is that I feel he's could have been a bit less cowardly and slightly more loving/caring in the scene between he and Tigress. I would have loved to have seen him talk to Tigress about how this affects her (as in, why does she care so much?), particularly with a concern for whether or not it bothers her (remember, Po always helps those in need, be it physically or emotionally). But again, this is a minor issue - I think the way things played out is very realistic and natural to Po's character. As I stated, I really liked this story. It is definitely one of the better ones on this site. And again, I can't stress enough how much I loved the plot and the ending. I'm thoroughly glad you posted this, and look forward to seeing more from you. P.S. Succeeding is spelled as I have; it is not "Secceeding." Something tells me that this is just a typo, but I'm giving you a head up regardless... |
