hi, i know it’s been ages since you’ve updated but i do hope you read this & if it fills you with half as much joy as this fic filled me, i’ll be happy. this is honestly one of my favorite jily fics ever, and the way you write just made me want to be friends with everyone (or nearly everyone, anyways) in the story. lily is so witty and fun, & im so glad she and james had a nice long relationship (for some reason jily writers love to torture us by keeping the slow burn right up till the very last chapter & then we’re supposed to be happy once they get their romantic kiss—of course we are, but that’s not the point). this was an excellent use of my time in quarantine and i can honestly say that the world seemed a lot less terrible while reading about this town that seems like bloody shangri-la. thank you so much for writing this, & i hope that you will continue to gift us all with your magnificent talent for writing. 3

This was amazing! It felt like I was just watching one of those wonderfully quaint British tv shows where all the locals are just a little bit mad, like Doc Martin or the Vicar of Dibley. But with the added twist of ALL of my favorite Harry Potter characters. You did a great job with world building, I felt totally immersed. Also, the dialogue between Lily and James was just perfect. Glad I finally got around to reading this after seeing it around on so many rec lists! Keep it up!

Wow! I've finally finished. This story has definitely have its ups and downs (I mentioned some in my previous review). Dorcas is such a great character! You've done a wonderful job with making her more complex than she first appeared. I will admit that I thought James and Lily got together quite quickly - I find it hard to believe that the Lily you created would fall for James so soon after the incident with Severus. I guess I just expected some moral qualms on Lily's part there, but hey, this is fanfic, and fanfic isn't perfect, and that's what makes it so real. To be quite honest, I enjoyed the first half of the story much more than the second. Your "bad-boy moves to small town and creates change" plot had me captivated, and the vibe that the story gave off was unlike any other jily fic I've read. This story, with its cliches, gang fights, and fuzzy moments, is a true jily classic; a must-read for all fans (oh, and by the way, I loved the Marauders "chess club". Can't forget about that).

I've heard about this story from many friends and rec lists, and while the summary sounded interesting, I just couldn't get myself to start. So finally I've given it a try, and it's incredible. Your James is different, a bit like Holden Caulfield (side note: loved the Catcher in the Rye mention you had there!). He's not quite how I envision James, but hey, that's the point of Marauders/Jily fic. We have guildlines, but we also have freedom, and James in this story takes some warming up to, but he's such a great character. You stuck with the info JKR gave us, and make your own unique twist - that makes a great fanfic! You didn't make James some fantasy Prince. You made him an envious, arrogant, rude, loyal human being. Sirius, Remus, and Severus, are all so unique and full of depth. Lily is also a great character, and her friends (who do moan about boys a bit) aren't quite as one-sided as I've in other fics. You've transported Marauders era to a modern, small town setting, and done it SO WELL. You read some stories for the plot, or witty one-liners, or setting. My impression so far about this story? You read it for the golden characters.

This fic was a joy ride. OMG! The laughs! I had one too many. The joy! The happiness! Very entertaining. Catchy too. At some point, I thought it would have made one hell of a teen show. When they broke and he moved back with his dad, around chapter 22, it went down south. It was still good but not as great as the chapters before the break. I give it 8/10 overall. And thank you for sharing this fun story with us all.
