One minor observation here; the location of the fictional town of Cokeworth.
Severus Snape's paternal home is in the street "Spinners End". And that is in the same town that Lily Evans Potter grew up in. So did Petunia.
In the previous chapter you have Snape telling Harry that his home "is close to Diagon Alley" (I'm paraphrasing).
But in the canon stories, Cokeworth is in the Midlands area, distinctly very separate from the greater London metropolitan area. And absolutely not close to Diagon Alley.
If you want to depart from canon, I think you should explain what you're doing as it is confusing to your readers (me included!) if you don't.
So let's say for the purpose of continuity that maybe Severus bought or rented himself a small townhouse or even just a flat nearby to Diagon Alley.
I think I can live with that as he did inherit the Cokeworth house and spends nearly nothing on himself out of his Hogwarts salary. Not to mention all those fees for custom brewing assignments he does.
Right?

Neville's parents were NOT killed by Death Eaters. They were permanently injured and reside full-time at St Mungo's Long-Term Spell Damage Ward. You wrote of this in chapters 2 and 3 if memory serves.

Even taking into account the differences in the British method for writing dates from the American way, methinks the diary dates are more than a little unbelievable here, given the chronology of events. Just an FYI for an excellent tale! One of my faves!

Well! Just got through reading the whole story. Started last night and loved it. Ok, maybe it could use a little polishing, some extra backstories, but all in all a good read.

To answer your first question: 3 with the twins and another boy (preferably Harry). As far as the creature inheritance: Kitsune (the Japanese fox spirit).
Now, I am aware that you wrote this chapter some time ago and have already settled the matters, but these suggestions could be considered for a different Harry Potter story.
Looking forward to reading the rest of this story and I will definately check out other stories that you've written.
