Reviews for Chipped
Idril-Lune chapter 1 . 8/18/2015
I kinda wish I didn't relate so well to this story, i'm all teary eyed now... Que sera sera... I would love a happier sequel... you know the kind... where she meets some ubber awesome and finally fits in (doesn't even have to be an avenger, other genres are totally cool, i like a good crossover fic :) just saying...) anyway, I like it.

I wrote a review/reccomendation on Tumblr for your fics Chipped and Birdcage, and I'm going to copy/paste it here:

I’m pretty sure Chipped and Birdcage are basically my favorite stories within the Darcy/Loki fandom. I read them a while back, and forgot to leave a review. However, today I was in the mood for some Darcy/Loki, and went back to these fics.

I realize that these two stories are separate, however In my own headcanon they are part of the same narrative, so I am reviewing them as one.

I have never really agreed with the common ideas about Darcy’s character. I never really saw Darcy as this plucky comedy relief girl who was outgoing and extroverted, who charmed everyone she met and partied hard. Fanon!Darcy sort of reminds me of the “Manic Pixy Dream Girl”, Tumblr fangirl self-insert! edition.

These fics really outline the way I see canon Darcy, and the reason why I love the idea of canon Darcy and canon Loki as a couple. Angels Fall Hardest’s grasp of the characters is spot on, and her character writing here truly excels past the common fic author.

In Chipped, We see Darcy as the awkward outsider that she is.

One thing about Chipped that is so great is that we see everyday occurrences that cause harm. The small things that shouldn’t matter, yet seem to matter so much. Darcy is an introvert who hides behind false extroversion, and this fic outlines that beautifully.

In Birdcage, Loki has been imprisoned in SHIELD headquarters as punishment after the events of the Avengers. Loki’s prison is behind a glass wall, in a well used hallway where he can watch the outside world pass by. Darcy and Jane use this hallway everyday, and Loki entertains himself watching Darcy. Loki starts to project his own pain and insecurity onto Darcy, and he spirals more and more into a frankly creepy obsession.

What makes these stories so great is that they outline exactly why I love this pairing. This is the kind of thing I want out of Darcy/Loki fics, The kind of thing I want out of Darcy fics in general, but as good as many of the popular fics are, they just don’t always hit the right notes for me. These fics do.

I noticed after coming back to these fics that I had unconsciously been inspired by them in my writing of See No Evil. The stories are very different from mine, but you can see it if you squint. I guess my desire for more fics that portray this pairing the way these fics do had a hand in that. I would encourage all Darcy/Loki fic writers to take a look at these fics, because I feel like we really do need more like them around.

'She then wondered why she'd labeled it in the first place, maybe to remind people she lived there too.'
Basically sums up the whole emotional trip Darcy goes through.
First of all, I really liked it! I am usually a real Loki/Darcy shipper and tend to only read and review stories about them but since I really enjoyed 'Birdcage' I just wanted to read another story from you!
Again, I really enjoyed the flow of your piece, it was so easy to read, not because your style is too simple or boring, not at all, but rather because you make it very easy to follow the stream of thoughts and the different stages of her realization why she feels the way she feels.
Another great point is that you really tend to make one understand the struggle inside her. As Darcy mentions a couple of times, none of the things are really of heavy betrayal or of real ingorance but still it is the small things that Jane may neglect about her that just start to gnaw at her.
Plus, I loved the ending, that you did not have Darcy wallow in self-pity or act like a childish brat but rather very mature, accepting that this might be in her head for a long time but still being an optimist who still hopes to find her happy-ending. Great ending to a great story, I seriously enjoyed it!

I really like this little peek into Darcy's mind.

Well written description of an introvert's thought process. Her loneliness is tangible.

Wowowowow. This is great. I loved it. We really get a different perspective on Darcy & how she fits in with Jane & Erik. I love glimpses like these & you handled yourself perfectly. Thank you for sharing.
