Somehow, I can picture L's birth mother being a French rich bitch. Why on earth would she give up her own child and then years after the fact, she marries the boy's father, and they don't bother coming back for him? Oh, I don't understand people, no matter how much I like to think I do.

I wonder how L's mother died. Heart attack? For some reason, that's the first thing that comes to mind.

Anyway, this was so irritating to read, but in a good way! Irritating, I mean, in the sense of how the actions of the characters made me react. It's a fairly plausible origin story, at the very least, although it doesn't go into detail on how L's talents were discovered (well, besides the fact that it's implied that L knew that his mother didn't love him as much as she acted like she did). This could also explain why L has problems opening up to people, after loving someone as important as his mother who didn't return the feelings...

That was so beautiful! It was very realistic, I can definitly see that being L's past. His mother was exactly how I pictured her! Beautiful, French, and cold XD
