6 years since this was updated, and it still is delightful and wonderful to read. I hope that you are someday struck with inspiration to finish it, but until that day comes, what is here is immensely enjoyable. I especially liked the drunken rant in the last chapter, as well as Merlin's worry about failing because of his big mouth rather than his magic.

This is brilliant! I love seeing how their friendship evolves and the 'Arthur's bad mood sends Merlin reeling' sounds like such a great story idea, especially as Merlin has now reluctantly accepted that he does care about him. I would really love to read it :)

Yes, this is the sort of shenanigans I wanted to see! No such thing as too much bromance, but nobody bothers to fill in the outline the show left us with about how, exactly, their relationship came to be.

Oh, man. I love the CONCEPT of this. Merlin and Arthur's slowly blossoming brotherhood is one of the things I hold in high regard on the show. The character development on both parts is just stunning, and the greatest redeeming factor, in my opinion. You've really captured it here. I love it SO much. Merlin (reluctantly) ripping into people for putting down Arthur is GREAT. The difference between how he treats the other peasants (who don't know better and/or are saying things that aren't necessarily untrue-he is a prat, but he can also be a good man) and how he treats the lords (who HAVE interacted with Arthur more than once and should thus know him somewhat better and aren't speaking the truth at all-Arthur may be unintelligent, but he's not empty headed). It's the difference between ignorance and hypocrisy, and I liked the way the reactions were done. I don't know. All of these one-shots were great, but I do think this is my favorite one thus far. I know it's been almost a year since you updated, but I'm hoping you'll eventually cycle around to this one again.

Very fun chronology of Merlin and Arthur's developing friendship. I read them straight thru today, although I remember reading at least the first one. I especially liked the tax day interaction and Arthur's immensely awkward 'stop' to check n Merlin after the "Poisoned Chalice"! This story is fulfilling it's potential, visiting the various moments that make up the greater whole. Wonderful idea and well executed. Keep going! And one from Arthur's view would be fun too!

Haha, poor Merlin's had a rough time of it. Though, I'm a bit confused at why Jessamine was angry-Merlin didn't insult her, the old lords did.

Regardless, I'm happy you updated! It was a fun chapter :D
