RowenRae chapter 1 . 4/13/2015
That was amazing. I have no idea what else to say! It was wonderfully written and horribly sad. Thank you ever so much.
Setep Ka Tawy chapter 1 . 5/26/2012
This is just gut-tighteningly, hauntingly beautiful. You got all of John's little quirks perfectly in character - the way he viewed himself and his best friend. I loved this part:

"Yet John's favourite jam tart would remain untouched, even guarded by the other man until the ex-soldier wanted it. " It was such a truly touching little image.

Excellent job. So emotional, and so wonderful.
Kaelir of Lorien chapter 1 . 5/26/2012
Oh, my. This was truly heart-breaking to read. It's the little things that hurt the most, and with this, you've included so many that John might have once considered insignificant, but suddenly add up to something when that something is no longer there.

A few lines that I really loved:

"A lost solider longing for the battlefield, feeling too guilty to join the living when he'd seen so many die."

"Within a few days of their first meeting he had raised his gun –First Do No Harm- and killed for Sherlock. To save Sherlock. So he had taken the hand he had been offered and together they had run and run and for one giddy moment John had thought they were invincible."

"Mycroft, whether aware of the blame that John placed on his shoulders or not willing to publicly display his grief, did not attend. Although John was sure he had seen an umbrella clad man lurking among the trees."

You've expressed his thoughts and his doubts and his emotions so well here, and the imagery is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
