I don't understand why merlin is a woman and Arthur doesn't seem understand either.

i have yet to figure out what just happened. it would have been nice to know that merlin was going to be a girl/woman because i read merthur to get the (lovely) gay experience, not straight. i recommend an authors note in case you plan on doing that another time.
