...wtf? There's a difference between being clever with imagery and the senses in writing, and completely unnecessary and inscrutable descriptions. And you definitely crossed that line. What happened between last chapter and this chapter? It makes no sense at all.

Love this so far! Really interesting idea :) Also this: 'This is stupid. It's ridiculous, and it's probably dangerous; not even in the exciting way, but probably in the 'get wedged between rocks and die a humiliating death' way... He'll probably find rocks and spiders, and maybe a badger. It'll probably bite him. He might pick up an infection.' had me laughing so much because this is the same type of conversation I have with myself everytime I decide to go off and explore some ruins or caves or random hole in the ground I find whilst out walking! :D
