| basil chapter 1 . 12/28/2002 I usually like two types of fics: those with lyrical and/or haunting language, or those with realistic portrayal, incisiveness and insight into characters. These days I'm starting to prefer the second, and this sure fits the bill. I like how you make their feelings for each other so complicated, not secret, sappy, I-slit-my-wrists-for-you-every-night obsession, which is usually how people deal with enemy/rival/antagonist pairings. *Real* people would have mixed feelings. I'm going to read the rest of your work now. It's 4AM on this island, and now I can't sleep. Mmm. Literary caffeine. |
