With a few minor(!) adjustments you could make a good(!) story much more plausible. Please let a pedantic native of a major capital city annoy you for a moment:

Ambassadors' relatives do not usually make a tabloid's cover; and they would not be staying at a hotel but the embassy. I can't imagine a person in an exposed, security sensitive position that relies on discretion and decorum would feel the need to tell everyone about herself and her work (like you have Elizabeth Prentiss do). Have you ever watched sightseeing tourists? They rarely radiate joy but rather dullness. (No offense, that's what a relaxed, a bit exhausted and overwhelmed, fully absorbed state looks like.)

You make it sound like Emily and Aron are having lunch in Versailles, a short walk from Emily's hotel, while Versailles actually lies west of Paris. "Divorced for years" with a three year old son is cutting it rather close.
