Good story - better by far than "Darkness Rises When Silence Dies" was. Disappointing chapter though. :( Aventus, why won't you stop focusing on the woman who will only ever see you as that young boy she helped?

i just discovered you're storytelling from a dude on Facebook. right after attempting to right my own aventus aretino story. And in many ways my story would be somewhat like yours in the beginning of his story. and after discovering your story and reading all the way through it. I realized I have a lot to learn when it comes to storytelling. anyways I really loved reading this and I have shared it with others that might be interested in it.

So. I read this in a handful of sittings. And, as may be obvious from that fact alone, I really, really enjoyed it! It's become increasingly difficult for me to hang on with books and stories to the end as I've aged, but this-! I've stayed up til silly hours reading it, always promising to my boyfriend, "Just one chapter more!"

Your style is crisp and clear. But what I have really loved about this is how beautifully crafted and captured each and every character is. Every single one acted according to their personality, and every action made sense. It's difficult to maintain that kind of consistency!

My one, tiny critique would be that, from time to time, you would kind of summarise the previous chapters at the beginning of a chapter, and so on? I mean, not anything as blunt as "Previously on 'Innocence Lost,'" but you did kind of. Recap the big things that had happened so far. To me it felt pretty unnecessary. I tended to skim those paragraphs; I know who the Dark Brotherhood is, so I don't need to be reminded halfway in, y'know? Anyway, that's such a tiny thing. I'm picking nits. But otherwise - I can't pick out any other glaring flaws. An all round well-written, entertaining piece. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel!

I couldn't stop reading this! Your story is so well written that it made me want to play the DB questline with all of your characters instead of the original ones, including Hecate as leader. You did an amazing job at getting into characters' heads and keeping consistent with original characterizations. I am looking forward to reading the sequel when I have time :)
