I always wondered at that in the show, since the same solution didn't work for Vorik. But I also sort of assumed Tuvok, as an older Vulcan who'd gone through multiple pon farrs, might have a better grasp on the deep meditation technique (which was left out of this story entirely). I do like this take too though. Very interesting, and interesting that it's not the first time!
It's got my brain going at warp speed now though. I keep thinking... what if Chakotay knew about it and the pon farr was resolved by them fighting over Kathryn? lol

I never liked the solution they showed us on TV.
I'm glad you developed this storyline which is much more satisfying although it's a difficult topic.

This is a really interesting take on the Janeway/Tuvok relationship. I was slightly skeptical myself of the hologram used in "Body and Soul" but never truly questioned it. Here, you present us with a solution that I had never (and probably never would) consider.

I think that the biggest plot point in here is the line that decides what is cheating and what is not, as Janeway clearly still struggles with it. Since she also helped Tuvok seven years ago, I can imagine that the emotional damage afterwards was just as severe because of her engagement to Mark. I feel like this still is some form of cheating, but you address this and the feelings of other parties (T'Pel, Chakotay) quite well.

I also like that Tuvok is the one that convinces Janeway that she would benefit from a relationship with Chakotay (Vulcan logic FTW) as I think that is a reflection on their longtime friendship and how Janeway often relies on his counsel.

Chakotay's caring nature with Janeway suited him, as did his shock and outrage over her bonding with Tuvok. But in the end, I'm glad that the mental link was severed and that Janeway decided to move forward in her relationship with Chakotay.

As a final note, I must add that the character interactions and descriptions were very well done :)

Ahhhhhhhh. I LOVED THIS from the first word to the last. What a beautiful story of Janeway's friendship with Tuvok, her willingness to sacrifice herself for others, her discovery of her true feelings for Chakotay, Chakotay's feelings for her. I think I'd even go so far as to say that every word of this story was perfect. Beautiful job, Eydie. Thank you for sharing this.

Oh yes the Pon Far...I agree with you on that respect. I doubt that a hologram would 'get the job done'. Their minds are far to complex for it to be satisfied by a projection of photons. Great story!
