Bad girl America. Bad.

You read the Gathering Storm series thing? By Robin Bridges?
the sublime mime chapter 2 . 7/14/2012
the writing as usual is lovely-i get the feeling that despite Ivan declaring he has no ulterior motives...he does in fact have plans for Amelia. i realized that this story is a sort of continuation of another one of your stories about the relations between Russia and America (which i must read. MUST.)

you live in Chicago? DUDE! I lived in the Chi for six years before moving to Georgia. i lived on the northside, Wrigleyville actually. down the street from the cubs stadium-and from what i've read in the history books Chicago was bumping pretty heavy during Prohibition.

poor Amelia, why does she have such venom towards Ivan? maybe because he seems to be quite the ladies man? i get that feeling that he is the sort of man that gets what he wants when he wants it...but then so does Amelia. unstoppable force versus an immovable object. i wonder who will win.

i'll be looking forward to the next chapter!

words cannot express how much i've enjoyed reading this so far...and i love Russia's style of narration.

i actually looked up "krasota"...it has a Slovenian definition too which is different than the one given in the story but it fits just as well. Rich, grand, gilded(my favorite), lush, sumptuous, opulent is what it means. and i feel it not only describes the (unfortunate) object of Ivan's affection but the setting, the timing and even the ways that you use words to build the story.

I LOVE IT.

i also love the biblical/literary allusions...Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a given for Amelia but the comparison you made of her between Lilith and Eve-both were women faced with choices that left them doomed in the grand scheme(however Eve is seen in a much more favorable light, one must wonder why). There is so much yummy symbolism there.

Amelia focused-she is a "girl-child that has so easily fallen, and adapted into the secrets of womanhood." she very much reminds me of certain "Lolita" and Ivan very much gives the feel of "Humbert Humbert" with insanely intense perceptions of her? is he a reliable narrator? i get the feeling he isn't...

favorite sentence: "It was like she wore the sun on her body and the moon on her neck."

one last thing, i didn't know this but Asphyxia literally means in Greek "without heartbeat"...is this in reference to Ivan/Russia himself? (with his whole heart popping out shingdig in the series)

I just melted all over the floor with this story! Your words, they echo such a beautiful picture and such great tensions that I found myself gasping or sighing as I read, completely caught up in the entire story, l loved how you portray Fem!America (FYI ur Story is the only Fem!America story I'll ever read since it's PERFECT) and the twists of her with Ramano and Ivan cutting in are just so beautifully done. Please please keep going, I'm on hot pins and needles to read more!

Your loyal and excited reader,

Suga Bee.

P.S. You have achieved GID STATUS with this lively price of work. :)

nabokov chapter 1 . 5/7/2012
Nabokov's character is half-French and half-British for a reason. Russia doesn't work that well in this set up.
Lurky chapter 1 . 5/6/2012
