I have a fondness for present tense too- there is a profund sense of immediacy which somehow heightens the emotions of the characters, and renders this story an exquisite piece of literature!

...Incidentally, I hope you will not take offence to me referring to another story here, but I mourn the loss of your other Mystrade story, Reflections. I was reading halfway through it, and not knowing the ending is rather regrettable, if not, infuriating.
