Just so you know, Italy doesn't allow same sex marriages. They allow the unions though.. However, given that they are countries and that Italy is pretty pissed at the EU right now... And you got their peoples view to consider and seeing as a married country would have to go live with the other, that would be seen as splitting up the country that is technically married via unification... I'm probably confusing you.. Point is, in reality that would turn out more complicated and may stir up even more hostilities...
