I loved this story. It brought tears to my eyes. It's such a beautiful concept; Rick haunted by someone from his childhood that he couldn't save. Really creative and well done!

Wow, this was so very plausible. A really well thought out and logical story. I'm reading it nearly two years after it was first posted and it would still hold true as a layer of the Castle onion...especially loved the inference as to where the name Castle came from. Thank you for something different.

Incredible story! Very sad and intense and moving! Concrete Angel is such a beautiful and sad song! I think this story was perfect, especially the way it ended, because you're right, in death there are no happy endings.

That was incredibly moving, I balled my eyes out the first time I saw the music video for "Concrete Angel" it's message is captured beautifully in this story.

Great fic. I really loved the dark tale you spun here for Castle's fascination wit murder. And all of the emotions that you dragged out of him were great, too. Well done! :)

It's funny...if they ever decide to start exploring more of Rick's background, actively start prodding what drove him to start writing mystery novels and explore the macabre, I'm not sure Marlowe & co. could do any better in weaving a tale of how things began. There's no victory here, just closure.

Managed to not cry through the story of Rick telling her what happened until of course you wrote "Lexi.. I want you to meet Kate" then suddenly the tears started. Brilliant story. Not many people have braved this part of his life but I think this would be a awesome back story

It's always difficult to xrite a coherent review with teras in the eyes cause this story... reading it after having seen Always and Beckett standing before her mom's gravestone... I like that we discover in your story the reason why Castle started to write and maybe why he had chosen "Castle" as his fame's name. This is lovely. Thanks
