Hey, I liked how you made sure to make the staement that Ariel is her own perosn, makes her own choices and belongs to no one. It was really crucial that you give her a life outside of her lovelife to contrast with her resstrictive one with James so I'm really grateful you did that, and even worked it into the plot! Epic!

However:
Especially in the begining, it looked like Ariel was simply swapping one toxic relationship for another. Sure it may be normal for lovers to get jealous but that typically registers emotionally, not physically. Also watching Eric's creepy bloodthirsty possesiveness develop as he instituted more restrictions for her safety and his love and desires for her felt more like a James character type. That is rational that abusers use to coerce thier victims, they love them and just want to keep them safe ( think Tangled). It really SHOULD NOT be Ariel's job to teach Eric anything about boundries, her independence or ability to be independent ( which was constantly underminded by him or Grimsby even though she was constantly saving herself ex: not being allowed to help with fire, Eric constantly requiring emotionally she be near him, over reacting verbally and physically when males oth r than him try to get close to her to the point where he gets hurt). They should co exist as independent indaviduals that give something to each other's existance. That's why Ariel stays with him~ not because he's the only person to love her or loves her with vauge concepts of love. I appreciate your point to show he didn't 'fix' her she was doing that on her own . Eric should want to stay with her for the same reasons and those reasons should not be the 1) possesiveness he has 2) her body/ pretty self 3) vauge concepts of love.
Now, you may not have intended for all this to come across but writing about abuse can be delicate. Maybe describing more about how his feelings are hurt or why he wants to do all these drastic things ( but not actually do them) can help the emotions and intentions come across clearer and make sure his relationship with Ariel feels worlds ( instead of nieghborhoods) away from James and Ariels'.

Hey there! I just finished your story, and it was really good! I loved the plot, and the way you used quotations from the movie :D James was really bad, and I think it is good that Ariel finished him off. You described her feelings toward this action very well, and I can connect to her in a kind of way. I love the character development, especially of her. Eric seemed at some points a little TOO jealous, but that is not important... It didn't make me enjoy this story less, I just wanted to mention it ;) Apart from that it was great! Thx for sharing!

Can I say so far I love the fact you had her kill him? I love Disney I really do but...can we remember that Ariel did a lot herself in it too? And it seemed so fitting she took that step of independence to do so. The teens might not get it but I definitely appreciate it.

Whoa. Ariel killing someone? I don't know whether I'm shocked or happy for her. I think a mix of both. She always seemed so innocent...but I guess having to put up with that monster, James, all your life would harden you a bit.
