the simplest excuse for gearing up for war is an arms race. All parties could fabricate reports to justify the arms race. Then they could use some 3rd party such as the geth or batariens as the "threat" to avoid driving a wedge between council races

also just as a side note if you haven't already look up the yield of the H-bomb and its comparison to the A-bomb then compare to the stated in game yield of dreadnoughts

Loving this story so far, I like the idea of Shepard waking up during ME1 after experiencing ME2 & 3, really looking forward to seeing what happens next

Interesting story, one little thing kept aggravating me: Executive Officer is a position, not a rank or a title. I cringed whenever I read someone saying Executive Officer Shepard. His rank at the start of ME1 is lieutenant commander.

Another great chapter. I'm interested in seeing how Shepard will react to some of his closest friends not knowing him, and how they'll react to some guy running up and acting like they've been through hell and back together.
