Nothing beats being safe in Ianto arms.

Awww, poor Jack... Brilliant fiction, and a fantastic writing style. The flickers of lack of self-worth and esteem are great ('angst-wise'), and you've fitted an impressive amount/snapshot into the length of the fiction. Lines that particularly stood out to me: "Oi, Jack." So does Owen. Where are they? Why don't they get closer to him to talk? Is he that disgusting? Was the Master right?/"I—" he doesn't even have time to say anything. His mind is trapped in a fog, and suddenly everything goes black.' (emotive and a great description) and 'He waves the binder at Jack as if to illustrate his point. "I could order us some food."'-I could definitely imagine Ianto acting like that. You also used some unusual comparisons, like the stack of cards which was great for the fic and helped gave it a certain 'flavour'. Regarding characterisation, I don't know if Jack would be so apologetic and Ianto so persisting, if only once, with his questions, although the former seems possible in the context. Also, Ianto doesn't seem to have much 'active' speech (e.g. other than 'Jack?'), although it's understandable due to the situation (regarding Jack's disappearance/their unstable 'footing') and it allows the piece to focus on Jack and his state of mind (which, in my opinion, is ALWAYS good! ;)). Poor Jack such angst and pain,thank goodness Ianto is there,

Wonderful, daring and dramatic. Finding new views to a chapter in his life, the homecoming, that was never further explored in the show and yet was a very important turning point. Beautiful and utterly terrifying, powerful and vulnerable, strong and fragile; all at the same time and with such intensity that it left me breathless.

Loved it.
