I was not surprised to see this writing quality when I had scrolled back up to see who wrote this. My first foray into your writing was through 'Wake Up' - I never once forgot that story and will continue to wait for its resuscitation but in the mean time, I happened upon this one-shot by chance. Hah, what a full circle of sorts.

I don't even know if there is a way to describe this style of writing but you manage to choose your words so carefully that they can convey a feeling or a thought in what people try to achieve in a whole paragraph. So simple and yet so rhythmic. I enjoy the way you give us snippets of their background through a show rather than a telling. And good catch on Clove's understanding of love - it is true, she would have no honest comprehension of it when there has never been a standard for her to learn by in her kind of world.

I forgot how much I've loved this story. I have been reading it repeatedly for months now, that's how much I love it. But for some reason I never reviewed. I don't know why. But seriously, this is fantastic. You struck the perfect balance between making them 'human' and 'heartless.' I always seem to go too far one way. You are an incredibly talented writer and this is just incredibly great thank you for writing such a great piece of writing.

i know you've probably gotten that a lot, but honest to god this was beautiful. i believe this is the most reviewed oneshot for cato/clove? (i could be wrong, but definitely in the top ten_ congratulations, you definitely deserve it.

the first thing i noticed about this, is the fact that usually people write like 5 times CATO saved CLOVE and the one time he couldn't. this, however, took a spin on it, and how clove couldn't save him from becoming crazy or getting angry, or not being able to see her. because he needs her, and she knows that, but she can't stop it.

my alltime favorite line from this, hands down i can't even with this line:

"Clove's not sure if she could actually do it. She just knows that Cato needed to hear that she believes she can."

goodness, that was just fantastic. it showed a facade, and how deep down she does care and how they're built on trying not to be weak and wowowowo this was just so good.

we don't get much insight on the world they live in, despite the first and second parts (but even then it's sparingly), but you love love love how you did it. the implications are all there, we learn the implied, and though we don't see much, we see enough to know that they aren't your typical high schoolers.

because they're careers. and you do them justice. you write them not too sappy but not too heartless. it's perfect.

the theme of winning is put in so many places and i love how you tied it all in.

and lastly, the very last line was an amazing ending. though it isn't a heartbreaking line, and not a dramatic one, it's such an amazing way to end it. we just end it when clove is gone.
