I have to say after reading some of your hetalia writings, I have come to the conclusion that...YOU ARE THE FREAKING BEST WRITER I HAVE EVER SEEN. Seriously though, this fic was really good. I loved how you made all of the characters react to the events of the WWs. Especially that scene with N. Italy and Germany was so touching and powerful that days after reading this fic, I had to come back to read it. I felt that you added depth to the Hetalia characters that we haven't seen in the anime or manga and I applaud you for that. Thank you for uploading your stories and I look forward to your next piece of work.

Ouch.

Feels.

This is gorgeous, and also painful, but in a good way. I love it.

Wow okay this is probably one of the best fanfics I've ever read. Not only was it extremely touching and heartwarming, but the historical references were amazing. I thought you did a great job keeping everyone in character, too. Thanks for writing it! :)

Sora Resi chapter 1 . 2/5/2013

I just want to point out the part when Italy was yelling at Germany...I kept reading those paragraphs over and over. I could picture it perfectly, and it absolutely broke my heart. You're an amazing writer.
Maudlin Matryoshka chapter 1 . 9/13/2012
Go historical Hetalia! Great job making this accurate as well as sweet and a great story. The only thing I would note is that Germany (as in, Ludwig) had been Protestant for a long time, and I think you said he was Catholic. Other than that, I'm so glad to see history being well used in conjunction with awesome writing! Keep it up!

Random FrUK fan chapter 1 . 4/14/2012
Okay... Can I just say that this deserves more reviews?

I mean, I suppose some people might not agree with these certain headcanons regarding France during WWII (assuming that they even think about France), but it was still beautifully done and everything, and it's not because I love historical!hetalia fanfiction, and the pairing of FrUK. Also, I really liked how you actually included the other countries that were allies that (general) world history courses (in the USA, anyway) never really covered (in fact, after France was taken, we don't seem to consider them as an ally after... even with their Free French Forces that fought and everything ._.;)(and I guess they just count all of them (Canada, India, New Zealand, etc.) as "Great Britain", which I suppose is true... they were part of his empire back then...).

I actually hadn't read France's getting taken over interpreted in this manner-where he's taken from death camp to death camp and stuff instead-but I like the concept (and the "British bulldog" and end reveal and everything) :3 and overall, I find that this whole story was well done.

The story telling was engaging, and the part where you have those events that took place after V-E Day (where (the Americans, but America in this case) took the German citizens to see what they'd done in the death camps, etc) was a rather nice interpretation, and really how Italy was interpreted overall, in that section; the way you translated the Axis Powers and what happens to them and how the Allies punished them (and also Alfred's "hints about something he was working on at home" because omg. I was like ahhhh when I read that part, ngl) was rather impressive (for a topic like this, really).

From what I've learned about WWII, this also matches up pretty well historically-the only differences are in interpretations/headcanons of historical events that I know happened :P (I hadn't seen N. Italy as being part of the Italian partisans who killed Mussolini but when I think about it, why not? /new headcanon acquired (maybe))

I'd also really liked those little points of regret from England, where he'd regret not doing something about whatever earlier-which is great, really, that sort of detail and relating things from history to our present day.

Also, France/Francis' stories behind some of those clothes... sound intriguing to learn, but also terribly sad to learn about at all. :c Oh, the horrors of war... (although Poland was far worse off...)

And then the ending with England and France and their interaction of finally being together and of it all just being tiredness and caring and feelings for the other that run deep through centuries is just very tangible in how you've written them; the way that France slips into French and England joins him in fluent (enough) French is also like a little headcanon of mine, but the way you handle it is very tactful, without the butchering of French by flamboyant uses of Google translate, so kudos to you for that as well! :D

... So I wrote you a long review/feedback, to make up for how little you have at the moment, so yeah! I don't know if this will help you much since I'm no history or English major, but I'm sure you'd appreciate a kind word or two (or 3000 characters' worth) about your writing~

O.O There are no words... *sob* ...but I'm going to try anyway. This was incredible.
