man, you have no idea how much I love this! Its so well thought out, and I love the little history lessons at the end! I totally maybe sortta binged the whole thing in like 3 days .

I havent watched hetalia in years, but I had a sudden craving for fic after another author I liked posted a oneshot out of the blue. And this, this was exactly what I was craving. I love the dive into the history. Alfreds place in it. and the exploration of the people and events he encounters a long the way. with just a nice sprinkling of self discovery and finding his place in everything sprinkled on top.
The very concept of a Nation and what it must be like, and what it must be like for others who encounter them, it absolutely facinates me.

Anyways, this story is so wonderfully crafted, I adore the relationship between Alfred and the Wetherbys across the years. The way that their (his) family is so interwined with the enigma that is Alfred F Jones. Its so nice now especially that they know, and he has a home he can always return back to.

In fact i've fallen in love with every character that Alfred has encountered, and its always so bittersweet when he eventually has to part ways. I think about them sometimes. the way each of their lives have touched and shaped Alfred through the years, and how he has to them in return. I think about what happened to them. where they ended up, will they or their descendents ever cross paths with Alfred again?

Had a bad feeling when he turned down Lincoln's invitation to the play, and it turned out to be the one I remember from history class.. I guess its up to Mathew and Arthur again to track him down now... hopefully Lincoln's passing doesn't cause him to up and relocate again.
I'm so happy Alfred could finally attend one of the weddings! and as best man too! I'm so proud! Hopefully he'll be able to keep it up for future generations!

Really hope Canada and/or England get to him soon, its looking more and more like he could really use some friendly support of another Nation like him, who really understands some of what hes gone through. The mental turmoil hes gone through during the events of the civil war is just gut wrenchingly painful. I'm with Canada, get this boy some therapy darn it!

I binge-read this entire story and I gotta say, oh mein Gott, I love it! From how Alfred became family with Emeline, to how he jumped around, working different jobs, to all the adventures he had with the friends he'd made along the way! Even though it's been a couple of years, I really hope that you plan on updating this story! :D
I would really like to know what's going to happen once Canada and England (re)introduce themselves to Alfred and explain the whole Nation thing to him. :)

I recently found this story, and I have ONE SUPER MAJOR COMPLAINT about this chapter. It's something that, in the few historically accurate Hetalia fics concerning the War of 1812, is always disregarded or not even considered by the authors.

That, my fellow author friend, is the Earthquake of 1811 along with the Native American uprising before it happened. I've yet to encounter anyone who has taken into consideration the toll the fighting between the Native Americans and the Americans might have taken on Alfred or the effect of that major a$$ earthquake. (It's an estimated 7.9, but the ripple effects were felt as far east as New York and D.C. as well as the U.S./Canadian border.)

That said, I am enjoying reading this story. I don't know if it's complete at this point - 22 more chapters to go - but I'll find out.

And here’s the end, the cliffhanger. The president is dead and Alfred is kinda out of a job. Damn, I really do love this fic. I’ll probably come back and read it again in a few months. I’ve been on a bit of a Hetalia nostalgia throwback for a while now, I left the fandom years ago. The historical research you must have done shows the time and care that was put in. Absolutely lovely fic, thank you for sharing it with us. I loved it when I started high school and I love it as I graduate from college. I hope you’re happy wherever life has brought you, goodbye cakuramen!
