And, please, please, please, if Rose dies, it will be an unhappy day for us all. #1 Rule of All Authoring: Never, ever kill the main character. You can kill every single person they love, but you cannot kill the main character. Ever.

The thing that's really keeping me from wanting to read this isn't your oc - it's your Snow. Snow is like his name - icy cold. He's always in control. He uses few words but they are always sharp as knives, scarily accurate and chillingly honest (or at least he was with Katniss, and I don't believe only with her). He doesn't resort to violence with his own hands, or so we're given the impression. His actions towards Rose's mom come across as plot-device-violence.

I thought it was ridiculous that someone in the high-tech Capitol could die in labor, until you added that Rose didn't think the doctors tried hard to save her, which was a nice touch.

But I don't think Rose would get away with badmouthing the ruler of Panem - he'd never allow it, b/c it would be seen as undermining his authority. Also, this conflicts with her saying after he died that she loved him, etc.

I like Rose well enough for a first chapter, and her conflicting emotions, but I'm probably not going to reading this more. I'm not saying this isn't good, I'm just now really drawn to it b/c of those little inconsistencies with Snow. They just bug me.

I thought I was being original when I wrote a story about Snows daughter.
