Just found this sweet M/M fanfic this week and read it twice. With S4 starting, I really needed to see a happy ending for them. Thanks so much!

Beautiful...I love how you followed the injuries all the way through, and despite the desire, they waited, and in contrast to all that cold and wet and dark and mud and loneliness, they finished dry and warm and spent and together. The horse was a nice thread, too, and it makes sense that that would be why we never saw Mary riding after the first series: Diamond went the way of 'War Horse'. Very well done!

There is nothing about this story that I don't love (well, except the pain and losing Diamond, but you know what I mean). You explored so much for both Mary & Matthew that the show never thought to touch. Massive pieces of baggage they have been lugging around that hello, really need to be addressed. And the tension and heat. Mirror. Care-taker Matthew. Hurt/Comfort off the chart. And such wonderful healing for both of them, these two damaged souls who can understand each other so well.

This is exquisite. You paint your visuals so convincingly that I feel as if I am right there, watching and feeling everything. The mirror scene especially brought tears to my eyes and sent a shiver down my spine. Bravo!

This was so wonderfully good. I love how you bring so much into a simple story, the horse, the flashbacks, the memories, the desire to make new memories all their own... It was just wonderful. Thanks for a good read.

This story and its prequel ripped my heart out, tore it in two, stomped on it, lit it on fire then somehow successfully put it back in my chest. You are an amazing writer and storyteller. I look forward to sobbing through your other stories, which I will I will try to not devour too greedily over the next few days.

This is a such a lovely story! Great visuals and I felt it was true to the characters as they are written for the series. So bittersweet to see Diamond euthanized. *sniffles* But the happy ending was sweet. Thanks Chickwriter!

Love this! I'll admit that I had a bit of a sniffle when they had to euthanise Diamond- I'm a big pet person and that really did tug on the heartstrings. I really liked that you used Mary's injury as a kind of foil for dealing with some of the persistent issues that had been hanging about since Matthew's war injury. Great great addition to Hunting Ghosts! Thanks for sharing.

This was just lovely. The entire thing was just lovely and so perfectly done. And it all felt so very true to their relationship. Mary back in her red dressing gown, Mary trying to save Diamond, and then all the callbacks to Mary nursing Matthew as Matthew nursed Mary. It felt like it could easily be tucked into series three. I liked the lack of honeymoon angst too. Just M&M starting a new life. And loved the parallel of Matthew's thoughts starting the story and Mary's ending them. Lovely.

Gaaaahhh this was simply BEAUTIFUL. So many beautiful moments, and as always your writing just flows in the most easy, natural, beautiful way. A strange little moment I adored was Mary's "That's good. I would hate to ignore your wishes," because it just embodies everything that's wonderful about their relationship - how independent they both are yet still so tied together.

Oh, Diamond! My heart broke for him, and Mary. Also adored the moment in Matthew's old room with the mirror - how completely inventive and erotic. Adored him taking care of her, and the allusions back to 2x05.

Perfect honeymoon smut was perfect. Smut seems almost the wrong word because it was too precious for that.

This was wonderful! I actually reread the Hunting Ghosts story a few weeks ago and it was such a pleasant surprise to see a sequel to it! I loved how Matthew realized/acknowledged Mary's care for him when he was wounded. It is a little absurd that we haven't ever seen it addressed on the show but I am so glad that you rectified it with this story. So interested to see what you come up with next. I love all of your fics but I've been a poor reviewer to this point so far. Keep up the fabulous work!
