I can vouch for JAMF on this one. I read this story on the Kink Meme in 2009 and have just discovered the 'Don't Eat the Leaves' story, which was published markedly later.

Although the stories are quite similar, I have seen more than a few stories with a similar plot line to these two and it could be entirely a coincidence. Alternately, 'Don't Eat the Leaves' may have been inspired by 'Laid Low'.

Fortunately I was able to locate the original posting of my fic on the old kink meme. As you can see, my story was originally posted back in 2009, almost a year before "Don't Eat the Leaves" was posted by mage_989. I hope that this clears up any confusion. :)

Reading it again I can see that the fics are almost completely identical... Perhaps mage_989 was inspired by my original posting, not the other way around! I have written mage_989 asking if this is the case. Thank you for drawing this story to my attention.

That's very interesting! I just searched for that story and it does sound very similar to my own. However, as I posted in the first chapter of this story mine was originally posted on the STXI Kink Meme back in 2009, before "Don't Eat The Leaves" was written. I'm not sure if the meme is still around so maybe I'll do some digging to see if the first chapter of my story is still posted there. If I'm able to find it I'll post the link to clear up any confusion.

I guess this is just a case of two people coming up with a similar idea.

I enjoyed this, however the concept and idea and plot of this are all almost identical to that of a fanfiction called 'Don't Eat The Leaves' by mage_989 on livejournal. Having read that one before, I'm confused on how your story manages to be almost completely identical save for a few details. Sorry to sound accusatory, especially if it's a coincidence, but you should give credit where credit's due if you have used a concept by another author.

This story is amazing. The next chapter you could have Bones swoop down on Jim to check him over and Spock act like nothing was wrong with him basically leaving him to the wolves.
