Sandwort sneaking into the jeep to follow and rescue Lucy may have been stupid, but I think I've never been prouder of the buck for willing to not only fight but warm all the inhabitants of the warren of the attacks. I have little doubt he's earning his redemption for being a prat earlier and I can't imagine him not making a difference in helping Lucy.

I was saddened to see so many of the bucks and kits dying from Schiller and his men, but as you said, it was the price of war. With that said, I felt bad for Hazel and the original WD band: they lost their sons and friends, so they will grieve and it will be incredibly heavy and sad.

I'm starting to suspect the reason for wanting the does alive, and with that said, my mind went to a very weird place when I realized that a lot of the convicts are male. YMMV though if that route is taken.

This was good, and the fight scene was extremely fast paced and very similar in tone to the destroyal of Sandleford.
A little sad that a lot of characters are dead, captured or have disappeared, and I'm sad that Buckthorn and Acorn jr are dead, but I understand that it's the reality of war.
I can't wait for the next chapter!

Shoot, now Hirsch has both Lucy and the journal and that's pretty bad. I just know this won't end well, although I'm hoping that Alan wrote the whole thing with some sort of cipher or code.

I was very saddened by Blackavar's death, although I admit that he went out as a hero, so I'm glad you gave him that brave moment as well. As for Campion, I'm seeing that you're following the WD TV series cartoon Campion given his injuries sound very similar (not dead but certainly mauled and scarred).

I also give you credit for making Sandwort tolerable and somewhat likeable in this chapter, and I hope Derek and Sam can help (the fact they weren't in danger with Josie and Hot-Dog is encouraging), and I must admit I felt my heart freeze a bit when Josie and Hot-Dog were nearly burned alive. I'm glad they weren't.

Ah, I forgot about the Crypts of Civilization. I am eager to see what sort of new discovery it will bring.

After way too much procrastination, I read this. It's overall a well-written chapter.

A large part of the chapter is about Vleflain's destruction, and it's one of the most violent scenes in recent memory. In the end pretty much everyone suffers gruesome deaths of varying degrees, which are portrayed very realistically. Female Riltha/Rithla saving Nyreem was nice; it's going to be interesting to see what happens to her now, after her brief scene with Pipkin.

Vervain might end up being a key in Woundwort's second downfall, since he is horrified by the carnage. Probably Campion too, since Woundwort decided to let him live.

You also get the criminals wrecking the humans' home at WD. These scenes are well-written, and it's good to see both Josie and Hotdog survived. Alan's return, with the way he killed a lot of villains, was pretty great.

The ending scares me. I didn't really mind the deaths of Blackavar, Aspen and Groundsel that much, or even Blackberry's children (now he'll be forced to admit he was wrong...) But there are several Watershippers I really hope stay alive (especially since, as mentioned in previous reviews, time travel paradoxes aren't an option anymore). It all depends on if they listen to Sandwort's warnings, and considering his past reputation... _
Looking forward to seeing how that will all turn out.

Also, thank you for the Possibilities review; I'm glad you liked the chapter you read. When Campion meets up with Vervain again, it won't go well for the latter. Hopefully you will like the next chapters.

Ever thought of featuring the Arch Libraries from the Arch Mission Foundation as well as other archives of knowledge humanity has accumulated? Could Drake's journal really be the locations of all the reserved of human knowledge left?

What intrigued me the most about this chapter was how you seemed to show the conscience in both Sandwort and Vervain.

The fact that Vervain, despite wanting to be back in power, in no way wanted mass extermination of his fellow rabbits shows that he sees what's coming and he doesn't like it. It's funny how I know have some sympathy for him, but let's see what the future brings.

I also enjoyed reading Sandwort's talk with Lucy, and how despite Sandwort not listening to anyone, it takes Lucy to make him reconsider slightly (although he's still stubborn as a mule and God did I want to slap him upside the head).

I was a little disappointed in the other rabbits' response to Fiver's dream. At this point, they should know better that Fiver's visions are pretty much on the mark, so the fact that they didn't see this and conencted the coincidence to Woundwort's body disappearing makes me wonder about this Aesop amnesia. I hope that you don't make that a regular occurrence in the story because at this point, the rabbits should have really known better than to doubt Fiver.

And yes, I'm in full support of Bigwig threatening to smack Blackberry senseless (or at the very least, what Blackberry passes as it). But I'm also curious how this alliance between Woundwort and Crowley will survive (because it's not going to last - you don't need to be a Seer to figure that one out).

War is coming? Hm, granted the WD lack the numbers, but not only do they have the allies, they have the brains and familiarity with the lands. And now that I think about it: what about the missing airlines and Rowf and Snitter and Kenny and the others? They've been missing for so long that if they show up as a last minute Calvary, then it would be the perfect time for them to do it. And if Blackberry doesn't shut up, I propose we send him flying into the enemies like a cannonball, head first. :)

This was a pleasant surprise.

So, I like what you say about Woundwort and Vervain, Vervain is still a pretty funny character, and Woundwort stays in-character. I like the alliance, although I wouldn't be surprised if the rabbits and the humans both tried to betray each other. This has the potential to be pretty funny later on. Interesting how this time Woundwort calls himself the Dark One.

Sandwort, nice to see him again, I guess. His conversation with Alan was well-written, as well as what happened with Lucy afterwards. Hopefully he will apologize.

Also nice to see Thethuthinnang again. Too bad she only makes a quick cameo though; some rabbits are eternally underused...
Still not a fan of Blackberry's portrayal. Pipkin is still awesome though, and Bluebell is still funny.

I'm glad that Bigwig will be going to Vleflain with Alan. Although, if Crowley's attack goes as planned, by morning it will be too late...

Then we go back to Crowley's gang. It's a good scene, everyone sounds very realistic. Not sure what Woundwort wants with the other female humans apart from Lucy, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. The humans are quite the gang of perverts.

The rediscovery of the Crypts has the potential to be really interesting. The plane could be a great advantage to Crowley's gang, although once they run out of fuel it would be pretty much useless.

I'll be looking forward to future updates.
Also, did you watch the new WD miniseries on Netflix? I think it was pretty great.

Excellent chapters, my friend! Although the actions of several characters do make me want to roll my eyes.

Alan should have realized that if there was a large group of criminals, it's best to get reinforcements first. Him, Fiver, Campion, and Threar trying to infiltrate the camp by themselves was incredibly risky, and a smart soldier would have realized that informing Hazel of the threat and planning for an attack as well as trying to come to the base would have been less problematic.

I was also annoyed with Blackberry; after everything Alan has done for the WD rabbits, he still turned on Alan and thought the absolute worst of him. I was with Alan in wanting to thump him, although surprisingly, I felt Hazel was fair in wanting no more excursions to recon on the enemy. Hazel wasn't being spiteful' he didn't want to risk any more rabbits or fellow people.

I was glad Sam was able to be saved but also it sounds like she's coming to terms with the fact that her brother may have been a monster but that in no way defines who she is.

Sigh! Is it too much for me to hope that Woundwort won't be resurrected? Because I'm not sure how this is going to bode well, especially since the WD family barely survived the first time. Although I have to wonder if Woundwort will really be the leader in his group, especially since a mass gathering of criminals will always have one or two turncoats who don't view favorably to animals.

Fiver's premonition is dark, but I loved the bit of light where Alan agreed to try to talk with Sandwort and see if there's some redemption for the buck. I loved that, and that Clover and Holly, despite everything, still love their son.

So, the chapter begins with Fiver blaming himself, the scene is well-written.

There are extended scenes consisting of Vervain torturing Silverweed and Threar. They are well-written, but also honestly depressing. The revival scene was perhaps the best part of the chapter, though. The relationship between Woundwort and Vervain in the TV series was really nice, hopefully there will be some funny interactions between these two in future chapters.

I'm not sure about this passage though: "Where would a civilian scientist learn such advanced military tactics?" What about Alan's role in WW3? I forgot exactly what his rank and accomplishments were, apart from that one child soldier he killed...

Now about the scenes at WD. Some good things, some bad things. Let's start with the good ones.

I really liked the scene with Alan investigating Drake's journal. The quote almost feels like something from the Bible. The hexadecimal trick is pretty clever, and I'm excited at the mentions of Ilips and Glanbrins; it could be interesting to see these weird creatures in future chapters.

Clover's brief scene was nice. It's been way too long since she last showed up, it's nice to see her again. What Sandwort told Pipkin proves this moron learned nothing. As much as I hate to say this, I have to disagree with Clover about Sandwort "not being evil". But then, no mother would speak against her son...

Now, the bad things: Alan and Blackberry's argument. It probably would have made more sense if Alan had argued with Holly or Hawkbit, but with Blackberry it just feels off. Vilthuril's behaviour also seems out of character.

The chapter ends with Fiver's vision. It's interesting. It's nice to see Threar is still alive, but is there really any hope of recovery? The "A friend will pay" bit isn't reassuring; I hope it's not Threar. I'm kinda leaning towards Silverweed since that's what happened in the series, but I like him, I don't want him to die either. From one point of view, I kinda wish it was Sandwort, but from another, that would probably completely destroy Clover emotionally. How about someone like Hawkbit? His inability to keep his mouth shut makes him more of a liability to the warren than an asset. But then, with Bluebell dying, we would run out of comic relief...

I'm looking forward to the next chapter..

Sorry for the late review, real life has been really messy recently. As you might have noticed, I haven't been updating Possibilities either.

Anyway, about chapter 39. It's a good chapter. It's nice to see Campion is not, like Groundsel, hostile towards WD.

The interrogation scene with Mason was well-written. Too bad he escaped and had to be killed so soon (nice to see Sam doing something useful), but they didn't really have any choice.

The description of the camp is well-written, although I have to wonder just where they got that jet. The part where Alan sneaks inside wearing Mason's uniform was really funny. It's rather disappointing he got caught, but at least he managed to plant the bomb, and everyone seems to be too busy trying to chase him to actually deactivate it.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this chapter would be Threar's kidnapping. This has the potential to be very interesting later on. I'll be looking forward to chapter 40.
