Dru: meh, love Landau though. I also love the Pride and Prejudice-i-ness of this; it's the other fandom I devotedly follow...and there's a story on AO3 that hilariously combines them!

Ah I see what happened to Spike (because this is Spike, in no way is it William. I normally don't differentiate, but there is a certain edge to Spike that isn't there in William, because of the demon. Other than that, same person). And woah, if Spike hadn't been turned by Dru immediately after his rejection I can see him becoming this jaded! Thanks, I really like this. :) although would there have been barbeques in 19th century England?

I absolutely adore this idea, and your execution is very intelligent, but I do have some constructive criticism:
-You occasionally use more modern language than would have existed back then e.g. okay, kidding
-I know you imply that William doesn't believe what he's saying when he says he doesn't need love, and also I don't know all the details of this story yet so I can't ascertain the sincerity of his words when he refers to Angel as a more needy character, but I always thought Spike was the more affectionate, loving one if the two (that was more of a query than anything else, and an uninformed one in the way of the story, too)?

There are some passages I find weird (like Buffy staying for two days in William's House before her mother came to see her, or the fact that Willam is so willing to tell her of his past love for Cecily) but *aww...* the story is so nice and sweet! *.* My compliments! _
