I'll review this since you asked me, but to be honest, I'm not very interested in this story. It gives me no sense of anticipation nor excitement. Usually when a person writes a first chapter, it's meant to hook the reader on at the end, or somewhere in the chapter. Nothing hooked me besides the fact that this was supernatural/fantasy. Then again, I've always had a distaste for vampire fics.

For the only thing I have a problem with, the paragraphs are unattractively long. It would do nicely to cut those large chunks into say, thirds. Or even fourths. Or fifths. Sixths wouldn't even be off the edge.

I'm sorry for being so blunt and hateful in this review, but I'm not in a good mood if you know me and my stories. For some nice compliments, I'll say that you have good grammar. Vocabulary is okay, and the plot seems to be flowing nicely as it is introduced. It's better than any vampire ficlet I would have ever come up with, guaranteed, no joke.
