Guest chapter 47 . 7/23 Wow, this chapter is amazing. I love it. Does Snape suspect that Sirius is putting something in his food? |
Brightened chapter 64 . 7/20 Wow. I know this story is 8 years old so you’ll probably never read this but just wow. Absolutely stunning and amazing work of fiction. This should be read by every Harry Potter fan. The journey from little Russ to Snape dying on the floor...ugh. My heart and soul have been touched. Thank you. |
Maru2019 chapter 1 . 7/18 This is amazing! It works well with the canon material; I wish Rowling could take a look at this |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/17 Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. |
The Unoriginal chapter 1 . 5/29 What is Amazing in this story is how tightly it fits in the crack and crevices of the Canon. You can find in here every time Harry sees Snape do or say something, with a reason that is not the one Harry thinks. Characters that get a passing mention in the books are fleshed out with motives, mannerism, and personality. The author's take on some key events of the book has become my personal headcanon. Worth reading and re-reading. |
Hetc chapter 64 . 5/26 That was tremendous. I wondered how you would manage to make the story feel complete in the last chapter, but it was very moving & very fitting. Thank you for writing. |
Hetc chapter 59 . 5/26 The awfulness of sectumsempra, the levity of imagining Flitwick searching for the treasure os Snape's spellcrafting notes and then crashing back down to Avada Kedavra, the flight to leave Hogwarts & an unimaginable future for Snape. This bit of the story feels like a slow motion car-crash & I am dreading the final impact of Snape's death. Snape couldn't be described as a well-rounded character, but he does feel both damaged & real. He seems like what at work we used to call a victim of Shit Life Syndrome - those poor souls who had a hard start, and then things just got worse. |
Hetc chapter 58 . 5/26 Bella has pissed on Snape's territory - that may backfire, especially given her scattergun carelessness with curses . The comment about Fenrir being away drove home the idea that the Dark Lord's secret headquarters has a staff canteen... 'Has it really seemed to you that I have played favourites?' It may be quicker to list when Dumbledore HASN'T played favourites. I loved the apparation alliteration . Thank you |
Hetc chapter 57 . 5/26 Moody is sweet (?) with his languages. The interactions with Slughorn & Snape - don't call me anal ( when they are dealing with poisonous/explosive/corrosive/volatile/expensive substances; Slughorn avoiding the messy/time-consuming bits of the preparation. Dumbledore is frankly crass in his management of Potter's grief in ignoring/forgetting all Snape's losses - his parents, grandparents & more recently Phina. Tonks is downright rude, but presumably her view has been poisoned by Remus & the others, deliberately or not . Inverness IS delightful & the Invernesian accent is often mellifluous. Presumably Mundungus has been at it, again. Again you have followed levity - Snape teasing Slughorn about Hogsmeade - with much darker stuff. The contrast is very effective. You put so much in your chapters without them being clunky or full of intrusive exposition. We are nearing the denouement, & I am preparing to feel sad. |
Hetc chapter 55 . 5/25 Bella's machinations, the prophecy debacle, mass incarceration in Azkaban, McGonagall's cardiac arrest and CPR, umbridge and the centaurs, the unplanned evacuation (& fabulous packing skills), Pettigrew being imposed on Snape... There's a lot in this chapter & I've probably missed something. |
Hetc chapter 53 . 5/25 In many ways, this is a desperately sad chapter, leavened with traces of humour - I can't believe I missed Tom, Dick and Harry. Thanks for writing. |
Hetc chapter 49 . 5/25 World Championship Wrestling! Hulk Hogan! |
Hetc chapter 42 . 5/24 No wonder Snape had a tendency to cheer for the bludgers. He must have been like a simmering volcano, beaker smashing not withstanding. You write good quidditch, and show interior feelings well. |
Hetc chapter 40 . 5/24 I have read some stories where Lupin is very easy to sympathise with. He had a difficult life, from childhood, but it felt to me that he repeatedly sacrificed Snape to be the scapegoat rather than risk losing his friends and education. |
Hetc chapter 39 . 5/24 You balance drama and humour beautifully. I loved the roast for professor Kettleburn. |
