I really liked the interaction between Hikaru and his mom. I also found the depth you gave both of them believable, and engaging. I find it very plausible for Hikaru to not like the fact that his dad is always working, and that he would not want to have a job like that. It was a fun oneshot. Well done.

I liked this! It's nice to get a look at one of the more underappreciated characters of Hikaru no Go: Hikaru's mom. I can't imagine how strange the sudden change in her son would have been for her and how difficult it might be to deal with a world that she doesn't really know much about. I really think such a conversation is something that should have taken place (not sure it didn't, since I only saw the anime, I haven't read the manga) since mothers do worry. Lovely little piece!
