I just finished reading this series... and all I can say is... wow. I am newer to SVM/TB, but I am SO GRATEFUL to have stumbled across your stories. I’m actually slightly depressed upon finishing. You are amazing, thank you for this ‘verse you’ve created.

I think that for his broad-minded acceptance beyond religion, species, sexual orientation, etc. they should give him the gift of knowing about fairies & demons/fire fae. He seems more deserving than Andy Bellefleur after all.

So refreshing to read a love scene that doesn’t include Eric using his fingers ‘to test her for readiness.’ Ugh! I hate that recycled bit of garbage that comes up far too often in far too many stories! Every time I see it in a story my mind conjures an image of someone checking the oil in a car and that sucks the heat right out of the scene. Besides, it’s completely silly & unnecessary — his vampiric sense if smell would tell him all he needed to know.

Now — the next love scene I want to see in this story is of the two of them trying out the reunited pair of fairy knives together. As I recall, Eric pocketed the one Niall had back at the fairy pool before returning home so both should now be at the farmhouse. It would be pretty awesome if Niall & Claude were in the vicinity at the time to observe the results from a little distance so we could get a feel for how it differs from the red ‘fireworks’ when they used just Niall’s knife by the pool.

Kat — you have a bit of a mean streak. It’s lovely to look forward to finally getting a chance to do some reading about a reunited E&S, but it was so cruel to keep your Eric away from his ‘heart’s desire’ for two years after he’d finally won her over. The only other writer I’ve seen so far who was cruel enough to pen that sort of lengthy separation was the sadistic CH herself, although hers was much longer & permanent so I wouldn’t dream of putting you in her category. You’ve got guts to stick with your story while being begged & pummeled by your readers to do it their ways!

It’s more than a little creepy that Hadley still had a need to ask Eric why he declined being with her at Sophie Anne’s palace. It felt more like a jealous & competitive interest than trying to understand Eric better or for our curiosity.

I’d forgotten that on TB Hadley didn’t know for sure that Hunter was telepathic until Sookie confirmed it. So she didn’t put him first or second or third or fourth (just more important than Sookie) even before she knew he is “disabled,” making her an even crappier mother than I was originally giving her credit for! Her feelings towards Hunter in this chapter seem more proprietary than caring, jealous & selfish rather than loving or nurturing. However much more enlightened her thinking might be at this point, she’s still placing the weight of her own faults & guilt on Hunter’s shoulders instead of really owning her own shit, making the barrier preventing proper parental love even bigger. And there she is knowing & acknowledging that he SHOULD stay with Eric, but she’s still too selfish to make it easier on Hunter by encouraging him to live with his Daddy. It apparently hasn’t even occurred to her how painful & cruel it is to expect a young child to deal with the double-edged guilt of being expected to make a choice between two parents.

Her poor unborn daughter deserves some major sympathy! I don’t really get why she (thinks she) already loves the daughter more & better than Hunter. The daughter is a product of her being raped & beaten by a full-blooded fairy. (Someone as selfish as this Hadley couldn’t possibly wholly avoid that kind of beginning having some impact on her actual feelings once the daughter is born.). Add to that violent conception that the extra dose of fairy from the father makes it highly likely that the girl will inherit many more fairy traits than Hunter. If she can’t decently love a sweet kid like Hunter, only her selfishly delusional brain could think she already ‘loves’ the daughter she’s yet to meet. For all she knows, the daughter could end up being a lot like her biological father.

It’s kind of ironic that Sookie was so bothered by the idea of a relationship between Claude & Hadley, with him being a distant uncle of their’s, but had no twinges occur when she & Eric worked out that the AP & Niall were siblings/twins. After all, that means she & Eric are both ‘descendants’ of the AP.

I still say it’s WRONG for them to block Hunter from knowing that Hadley’s love for him is nowhere near the unconditional love & acceptance he receives from Eric. Especially when they know that she intends to be unfair & try extra hard to make Hunter’s time there extra special, misleading him into thinking she loves him better than she really does and giving him a false impression of what it would be like for him to come & live with her.

I’m wondering if Hadley is freaked out by Hunter calling Eric Daddy. I expect Hadley to continue being just as selfish as always. Besides ‘the reality’ that her feelings & prejudices about Hunter & his telepathy haven’t actually changed for the better, her choice to move into Faery & plan to take him there with her are proof of her continued selfishness when it would clearly be better for Hunter if she would stay in the in between place with him so he could still be with Eric & their friends too (and BEST for Hunter to stay with Eric altogether where he is the happiest & most secure that he has ever been). It’s pretty bizarre that she so easily seems to accept Niall & Claude’s telepathy, but still sees it as a fault in Hunter.

Um, “...filling her with the remnants of his thousand-year-old seed and the blood that came with it.” I swear that sounds to me like you’re foreshadowing a baby being conceived here, considering you’ve been reaching back to his human days in this chapter.

I’ve had the theory that the AP is Niall’s sister for several chapters now, especially after her visit to Faerie when she hinted in her response to Sookie that she had used Niall’s blood to get in after a fashion. However, I get hung-up on the question of how Appius, who (per Eric) was a young vampire when he turned the AP, resisted draining & killing her instead since she was full-blooded fairy. The only flimsy reason I’ve been able to think of is that the bond with her demon lover could have, maybe, possibly, sort of tainted the flavor of her blood a bit? It’s flimsy because the demons in this story are fairies, as opposed to Dae/Demons from cannon who are different than fairies & have caustic blood. I don’t have any solid basis to think her blood would have been any less enticing to a vampire than any other fairy’s would.

Hmmm... Based on Batanya’s promise that the Britlingens would always watch over Hunter & the relationship between the AP, Batanya, & Clovache, I’m inclined to think Hunter might have some important deeds/role to play in the future, beyond his relationships with Eric & Sookie.
