SaraiEsq chapter 7 . 9/8/2014 Again, a well-spun tale. Thank you. |
Anonymous chapter 7 . 1/31/2013 Please consider sharing the final piece in this trilogy. This is too good to leave hanging. |
Anonymous chapter 1 . 11/13/2012 Please share the final part of this trilogy. |
Goldleaf83 chapter 7 . 5/6/2012 I loved how Death pulls Newkirk out of his body just before he dies: a just and loving reward for his generous heroism. And Newkirk’s response to Death is so very in character! That moment of tribute from Hogan is a magnificent touch as well. I felt almost as disoriented as Hogan when plunged back into the workaday world of Stalag 13, a real tribute to how captivating the journey with Death was. We see everyone in camp with new eyes as much as he does as he re-encounters them. The reactions of the men in the barrack were a treat to read as they try to figure out what’s going on with their CO. Lovely ending to the story: I'm curious as to how Death can have a daughter. I’ll certainly look forward to the third section of the trilogy! |
Snooky chapter 7 . 4/24/2012 Great ending. You have a true talent for the supernatural genre. Just like newkirk to be cheeky, even at the end. |
Canadian Hogan's Fan chapter 7 . 4/24/2012 Oh my, you had my fighting tears at the beginning and when I reached, "Just for being you, Schultz," I lost it. There's too many beautiful sentiments in here to mention. You've truly touched me here 80s. I think this is the best story I've read of yours yet. |
Stranger chapter 7 . 4/23/2012 You have written a truth. We influence more people then we realize. Hogan by his principles and more importantly his actions. Think about the times when you have just HAD it that day, and a stranger has been unexpectedly helpful. Someone one smiles and you think maybe today's not so bad after all. The saying you get what you give is truer than we would like. |
Susan M. M chapter 7 . 4/22/2012 I went to my niece's wedding yesterday. My eyes watered, but I managed enough self-control not to cry. I read your story today, and I cried. |
St PA chapter 6 . 4/22/2012 Dear 80sarcades: Congratulations regarding your success in the Papa Bear Awards. Well deserved because your stories are nicely written, easy to read and understand, are funny when applicable, and have interesting plots. Thank you for your kind response to my comment. I didn't realize you weren't allowed to list your own character(s) so I should apologize to you for making that suggestion. Take care and God Bless. |
jinzle chapter 7 . 4/22/2012 Simply a wonderful and heart wrenching story. I loved it. |
Sgt. Moffitt chapter 7 . 4/21/2012 Butterfly effect, indeed! So Hogan's influence eventually makes possible the cure for cancer. Too bad Jack couldn't let him know that; but it seems the burden of knowing the future of his men, Klink and Schultz is difficult enough. I do like the way the former Ambassador (excellent choice of postwar career, by the way!)remembers what he learned from Jack, and is there for Newkirk at the time of the disaster, even though Hogan knows he can change nothing about what is to happen. I'm really looking forward to the final story in your trilogy. Can't leave us hanging here, you know. We need to know the details of the final showdown with Hochstetter, and I really want to know more about Jack, and the daughter he lost. |
ColHogan chapter 7 . 4/21/2012 Great ending to a very interesting story. Sad to see Newkirk die in the end, but he died saving a few people from certain death. I also liked the scene where Hogan wanted to tell his men what he saw in their futures but was advised not to disclose the future and that what will be, will it was so cute that his team tried figuring out what to do for their Colonel to thank him. I especially liked Carter's suggestion about one candle for every girl the Colonel has been involved with since arriving at Stalag 13, and Newkirk's response. Great scene. Can't wait to read about that confrontation between Hogan and Hochstetter that you teased us with in the beginning. |
Canadian Hogan's Fan chapter 6 . 4/16/2012 "Maybe the Japanese are making all of our cars in the future! If you believe that, then the Chinese are making everything else." LOL, great line. I'm looking forward to seeing Newkirk's good future. Poor guy, in his alternate one. It's truly amazing how person changes things, isn't it? I hope Colonel Hogan stops being modest and finally sees that. |
Canadian Hogan's Fan chapter 5 . 4/16/2012 NO! My beloved Carter, no! Argh! This is hard to review because that's my favourite character you just offed. :) Seriously, though, this chapter was quite well written. I think I may have said it before, but I will again: you have a great ability to make a reader laugh, then make us cry, either with seemingly little effort. Binky is a great touch, but my particular favourite detail was him and his wife traveling across the US in an RV. That idea deserves a story in it's own road; I can almost picture it. I'm thinking something along the lines of 'The Long Long Trailer' with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Anyway, another very good chapter, though something tells me you'd better watch out for Carter in case he decides to take you to court again. :) |
Belphegor chapter 6 . 4/10/2012 I love a good history lesson, especially a lengthy one with so many fascinating titbits that make me dove right into Wikipedia and spend hours reading... Anyway. This is a perfect, spot-on example of a "for want of a nail" situation, well-developed and -paced and perfectly illustrated. I'm liking your "Death" more and more with every word; the fedora probably helps, but really you write him so elegantly that it's hard not to :o) Hogan's reactions to contemporary London (complete with punks and a certain Doctor) is hilarious, precisely because of the underplayed puzzlement, and his excitement at technological advances (not to mention his recurrent "Got to get my hand on one of those" thoughts) is great. "Maybe the Japanese are making all of our cars in the future! If you believe that, then the Chinese are making everything else" - :D So which of our Future!Hogans died in the King's Cross Fire? "Our" formerly of Stalag 13 version, or the alternate Stalag 13-less one? And how does his 1991 death in the opening figure in all this? I'm very, very curious. Still reading raptly :o) |
