Damn it, you're making me teary eyed lol. PTSD is no joke, and with how Samara nearly died, I'm not at all surprised this was how Shepard finally fell. Still, that sucked! It was an amazing, beautiful story though, and I'm still immensely glad I found you all that time ago.

I just want you to know you're a terrible, terrible person for killing fff not only Tali, but Garrus as well. Bad enough you destroyed Jack and Samara, to the Illusive Man of all people, but despite all that, this is still an amazing story thus far. Of course, that's to be expected after the Stargate and Mass Effect crossover I read from you. :D

Oh my god, this story was perfect! Absolutely well written and a wonderful plot.

This is a very nice story, one of the best i have read so far. Pretty sad at times tho but i guess it was the point.

I can't honestly say that I enjoyed reading it, not with that ending. I don't mean to say it's a bad story, on the contrary - it's a great story, well written (although there was a bit too much repetition for my taste when you recounted events from both Shepard's and Liara's point of view), but man, is it depressing.
And it all started so innocently, I was afraid that that I might be drowning in fluff at one point (asking for Liara's hand, the wedding [speaking of which, I doubt anybody who received an invitation to *the* wedding of the year would decline, with the possible exception of Aria, but even she might come since it's Shepard]). Shepard has some serious mental issues, but seems to be getting a handle on them eventually with Kelly's and Liara's help.
I liked how you outlined the options that Shepard saw for herself - fight, run, surrender. Both time Liara observes a change in Shepard, realizes that "something's just been decided" - but doesn't really understand what. What a tragedy. If only she had watched Blade Runner with Shepard and Samara, or at least looked up the quote!
The chapter designations were also interesting - soldier-maiden was replaced by citizen-matron, with one lone soldier chapter in the end. I'm not sure though that I can subscribe to your idea of Maiden - Asari without children, Matron - Asari with children, Matriarch - Asari with grand children. It makes some sense, but my impression was that these designations are more age-related, especially the Matriarch stage.
EDI, or a subset/copy of her running the Shadowbroker operation was a neat idea.
Kelly and Aethyta... a bold move. Believable though.
I'd think that after everything that happened in the games, Shepard would not refer to Jack as a "biotic nut-job" anymore.
Your Miranda was a bit unusual. Instead of just announcing her presence like normal people, she hacks Liara's security system - to prove a point? - to her taking over Cerberus after killing TIM (and losing both Samara and Jack in the process)... Not sure what she's trying to accomplish with that, Ceberus seems rotten to the core, beyond saving.
Joker as the new captain of the Normandy was quite unexpected. "He doesn't seem like *that* much of a jerk, mom." Lol. But then we learn that Daniels and Donelli, as well as Tali, also have been killed. That should probably have been a wakeup call that things were not going well in this universe.
Then Aethyta dies - at least her death was not of the violent kind - and Kelly, and Samara gets severely injured...
Liara had quite the epic meltdown after that. Threatening to kick Shepard out? Hating her? I can't help but feel that this is what started Shepard on her final, fatal trajectory - "I broke our daughter. I hate myself for it... I've failed as a parent". You never tell us if Liara feels any guilt over that at all.
Shepard's suicide was stupid (and why take Ash along as a witness?). To kill herself because her daughter tries a bit too much to be like her? The senselessness of it all is then compounded by Samara emulating the parent she adored one last time...

The nightmares that Shepard has throughout the story were also very interesting. I liked the one where her mother seems to disapprove of her choice of partner - "shouldn't she be shaking her ass in a bar somewhere?", "your whore of a girlfriend", that was actually funny, though I guess it just shows how Shepard believes deep down that she's undeserving of a "happily ever after". And she's not come to terms with killing Liara's mother in front of her, either. You also had some great moments interweaving nightmares and reality, like the flash and beep from Liara's camera vs. the nuke in the dream.

I'm a bit confused on who is pregnant at the end - Hannah or Benezia? It sounds like it should be Benezia because Hannah is still her mother bodyguard, and I don't think she'd be doing that if she were "impossibly pregnant".
To even suggest that Wrex would do Shepard's kid is... revolting. :)

Wow, awesome story!
And so incredibly emotional. What you had Sheppard do there with Ashly was not surprising and yet shocking, and tear jerking as well.

Great story, it's just kind of sad that it's hard to have a happy ending with Liara's life span.

Victoria's struggle and suffering felt very real to me, in many ways it was a lot easier to accept her actions to end her own life than Sam's. but that's not to say it isn't sad. It's realistic.

I can't help but feel sorry for Liara. Such a long to deal with everyone's death! Sigh. At least the twins were doing well and provide her some comfort.

Enjoyed reading the story. On to the next.

hello there I read this story some time back and I loved it I have noticed that you have done some follow-on stories since. However the ending to this story was so soul crushing and depressing I feel I have to pass on your others but thanks for a grate read (mostley)

i thought we would see more about miranda too since you introduced her in the storyline.
