Guest chapter 1 . 7/22/2012
Is it just me or do all your stories suck?

No, your stories suck.
SPECIALGUY chapter 1 . 6/7/2012
Way way way off at least as far as the w40k numbers. The imperium inhabits thousands/tens of thousands of worlds/habitable systems. The death korps of Krieg might be your most accurate number there and thats on an apocalyptic and wasted world where most of its population was wiped out in a nuclear war. Cadia is a fortress world and every man from the age of 4 is technically a soldier. Women are in mass breeding programs to keep up with death rates. Remember Cadia is constantly being assaulted by the forces of chaos and the only reason it hasn't been overwhelmed is ancient necron obelisks containing tech that negates the warp. But other than that its a daily business dealing with constant assaults of marauding survivors/raiders. Cadian military pop is probably closer to 2-3 billion if not higher. Catachans have about 40 regiments off world at a given time that I know of off the top of my head as the swamp rats are regiment 35 and there are many more. The Vallhallans have at least 200 regiments as the original tag for Ciaphas Cains regimetn was in the 200 range and he cites the average regiment being made up of about 2000-3000 men. Tallarns are probably somewhere in the same range.

Space marine chapters list about 1000 active marines at a given time the Salamanders listing fewer than that and the raven guard perhaps a touch understrength but generally the number is about static. However there are many second founding and third founding chapters. But even then the space wolves due to unique circumstances still maintains approximately legion strength around 10,000 marines chapter servants most of whom are combat trained. Their geneseed is somehow stabalized on fenris and when they tried to split the chapter to another world for another founding the wulfen(a guardian spirit that makes it damn near impossible to corrupt a space wolf. This is likely the reason the 13th lost company has been active in the warp for the last 10000 years and have high numbers of wulfen none were found to be corrupted by the warp exposure) overwhelms them and they go feral. Black Templars are also still at legion if not higher strength. They maintain the largest space marine fleet and are ever crusading in the name of the imperium. They are also one of the few chapters that the restriction for the number of active marines is lifted.

Grey Knights numbers are also probably significantly higher than would be expected. They are the only real dedicated demon hunting force of the spacemarines analagous to the deathwatch for xenos. However they seem to be everywhere in the imperium that they are needed and it only really takes a squad or two to wipe out entire planetary demon incursions but all things considered with how large the imperium is sending 10 marines to a planet per demon incursion even given that they miss the majority there must be quite a few more.

Overall the imperial guard numbers in the trillions. Understand that a founding on a hive world might make up 6 billion troops ready to be trained and deployed after basic training is completed. Individual cities on a hive might have upwards of 13 billion people living in it. A planetary tithing might say for them to raise a trooper per 10 people and if there are say upwards of 20 hives all the way up to as many major cities that could fit on the surface of a world that is a lot of people so for example. hive world olympia might have 50 hives of 20 billion people a piece. so that 1000000000000 people divided by 10 for a imperial guard founding. Thats 100,000,000,000 men raised in a few weeks. that ratio might be a bit exaggerated but thats just an example of the man power available to the imperium.

jaass20 chapter 3 . 3/9/2012
Hey, It would be interesting to see this culture to develop more. Also can you double space because it is kind of hard on the eyes.
Imperial warlord chapter 1 . 2/27/2012
As for total number of Imperial Guard Deployment no one knows the real number.
Randeri chapter 1 . 2/27/2012
The codex astartes states that each chapter shall be 1000 battle brothers strong (there regular troops, so not counting scouts, techs, pilots, librarians, chaplains, priests or dreadnaughts)and there are (according to there codex) roughly 1000 space marine chapters in existence loyal to the emperor. That's quite a few more than 15,000. I believe the imperial guard runs somewhere into the trillions, through I can't quote my source for there numbers.
douchiesnacks chapter 2 . 2/26/2012
keep em coming. i want to read this one lol
Guderian2nd chapter 1 . 2/25/2012
Do you know that every single loyalist space marine chapters in the warhammer universe is supposed to have 1000 men per chapter according to the codex astartes?(The black Templars have a lot more than 1000 violating the codex. Some inquisitors say their numbers are 10000, while others say less than that, around 5000~6000)

As for the Imperial Guard, those aren't all the guardsman. They are just the most famous ones.

EVERY SINGLE DAMN PLANET in the Imperium of Man is supposed to give the best of their shit load of PDF to the Imperial Guard, which is why the names for the regiments are usually planet based.

Of course, if you are just going to make statistics for one campaign, it's fine. But then the problem would be that much force of space marines would be one HELL of a crusade(Heck, I bet it can nearly wipe out the Tau empire.)
Invader jrek chapter 1 . 2/24/2012
That is a crap load of Space Marines. I pity whoever has to fight them.
jaass20 chapter 1 . 2/24/2012
I hope you realize that 300 of Space Marines is probably a bit to much. Even a squad of these guys can probably devastate armies. I hope you put them up to a opponent that has better technology.
