Great first chapter.

This is a great story, but I wonder if the whole thing would have been avoided if this had happened:

"Don't even try to deny it. You'd have guys fallin' out of trees for you if you weren't so abrasive or even if you stopped dressing like a librarian-"

The next thing Libby knew was that both arms were being twisted like pretzels behind her back, and her face was being pressed against the almost-sharp vent slits of the nearest locker.

Then she heard her best friend hiss in her ear, "Libby, you're my best friend, and I love you, but no one tells me how to dress or wear makeup or do my hair. Not society, not the boys, not this pageant, and, sad to say, not even YOU. If this pageant is so important to you, all you have to do is resign from being junior class president, you'll be out of the committee, and you'll be able to display yourself like a mindless and lifeless slab of beef in front of a bunch of animals who only want to have one-night stands with you. But I'm not going to enter the pageant, you're not going to guilt-trip me into joining the pageant, and that is my final answer. If you can't handle it, maybe you should look for a new best friend, is that clear?"

Cindy then released her and brushed off some dust and lint off Libby's shirt, "Now, I'll see you tonight for study night. See you then!"

So I've read this story many times over the years since you've written it (it's one of my favorite Jimmy/Cindy fics). And I always try to listen to songs that authors say remind them of a pairing. So two years ago I listened to Haven't Had Enough and now Mariana's Trench is one of my absolute favorite bands. I just wanted to say thank you. :)

I stumbled across the sequel of this story and knew that I had to read "Blackbelt Beauty Queen" first. I am so glad that I got to read this story! It is absolutely amazing and satisfying and I can't wait to read the sequel right now! 3

"So? Just because humans couldn't live there doesn't mean there's not some race of beings that could convert methane to survive!"

She's not wrong, especially as they already met about a dozen alien species before they even got to High School.

"Of course, I could think of a few other things we could do to kill time." Then he kissed her. "At least until I have to study for the chem test."

Yeah, like Jimmy needs to study for a Chemistry test. ;)

"Is Avogadro's number 6.02 times 10 to the 23rd?"

And then Jimmy run away crying in rejection because clearly Cindy said "no". ;-)

"I hope you remember me: contestant twenty-three, who is determined to succeed."

Ooh, did you give that assonance on purpose? Well done.

Ahh, too bad Jimmy isn't a genius in Psychology.

She turned slightly, poised to comment about the test, but noticed that Jimmy had gotten up. He had moved to the other side of the room and was saying something to some whose named escaped her. Alison maybe? He said something to her and she chuckled and playfully swatted his arm. He grinned.
For some reason that made Cindy want to hit her. Hard.

Oooooh, that was not a smart move Neutron. Not at all.

While she rinsed the grease off her hands, he pulled his car around to their driveway. As she got in and adjusted her skirt, he glanced out his window only to see Goddard peeking out from behind a tree. In his mouth was a small screw-like piece of metal that almost looked like…
The realization hit Jimmy. "He couldn't…" he muttered to himself. "He wouldn't."
Goddard's front screen opened to reveal the text: "Oh yes I would."

That's...that's just so perfect!

"He closed his eyes and imagined kissing those folds of perfect skin. Her warm flesh meeting his in a soft fit of pure bliss.
Wait a minute. How am I imagining warmth?
He opened his eyes to see his face was mere centimeters away from hers. Her eyes were wide with shock and disbelief. She stood up quickly.
Oh crap! Did I just…"

Nah, your genius level imagination is just capable of simulating physical stimuli, I'm sure Cindy just suddenly realized she had to go to the bathroom or something.

"Why would he care if I'm at lunch? Could it be possible that Jimmy truly did miss her? No, you're reading too much into it. But the thought stuck with her all through the class."

Even girls can't talk girl, so why should guys bother to learn it, right?

Have I done Estonian yet? Eh, I'm too lazy to check

Nope.

"Yeah," Cindy laughed from the changing room. "How Draconian of them to expect you to work at your job."

Zing!

"That you are, my ultra sweet." Sheen kissed his girlfriend's forehead and she giggled in response.
"Well, we have about an hour before you have to get to tutoring. What should we do in the meantime?"
"Well…."
"We're not watching 'Ultralord.'"
"AWW MAN!"

How cruel of you Libby!

She had been thinking about their conversation during the ride to school all morning and had come up with a plan. If Cindy wouldn't make a move, she would. She had enlisted Sheen's help during psychology, but had a very limited window to fill him in.
She saw him and Carl approaching the table, pulled a dollar out of the pocket of her black jeans, and held it out to Cindy. "Will you please go get me a bottle of water from the vending machine. I would go, but my ankle boots are killing me."
"Cindy took it and got up. "That's what happens when you wear four-inch heels to school."
They boys sat down. "What's up Libby-cakes?"
"Not now Sheen, we don't have much time. I know you all are as tired as I am of these two and their nonsense, so we're finally going to do something about it. Now, here's the plan…"

Libby's being EVIL. I like it.

Yay, conflict! I mean, oooh conflict.

That was about as believable as Jimmy saying he wasn't staring at Cindy in the pageant.
