I want to start by saying I really adore this story. I've reread it multiple times and enjoyed the concept and particularly Caroline's progression through the story. But, this one author's note on this chapter bothers me a little bit everytime I've reread this story. In my head, and because of what you've wrote here, in the guilty ones verse, Caroline wasn't raped by Damon. But, in canon, it's hard to argue the same. Now, I'm not sure if they had sex after Damon reveals he's a vampire to her because TVD only implied sex for the most part. But, the implication was clear that they were "in a relationship" after he started compelling her and you've argued that was just for blood, that Caroline was willing for the sex, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't willing after she found out he was a vampire (at one point, and I'll have to rewatch to verify, he even compels her to not be afraid of him). My point here really is that consent is not a one time thing, i.e. just because she thought he was the hot older brother doesn't mean she can't not want to be with him after finding out he's the hot, sociopathic vampire brother lol There's also the very real statutory rape that happens basically all the time by everyone but that's part of any vampire work so got to turn a blind eye there. Anyway, at the same time, I vastly prefer fics where the author assumes or charges canon to make Damon not rapey cause it's hard to read him as even protagonist adjacent if it were true to canon. So, TLDR, don't agree with your author's note on this chapter but love your work. Keep it up and hope you/your loved ones are doing well during the pandemic.

Loved the story. Hope there would at least be one shots of their life together and how the gang reacted to the revelation.

About Caroline and Tyler, before Klaus, I didn’t love them together. I didn’t hate them. I, honestly, did not care about the two’s relationship at all. He wasn’t, excuse my French, an ass. She wasn’t a bitch. Who cares, right? Everything changed when Klaus showed up. I, still do, love Klaroline!
