Stop. Writing. Stories. Where. You. Change. Hermione's. Personality. She'd fight tooth and nail, she'd run, she'd do anything but sit there and attempt to be civil. Character development means you develop them over time, all of them, not completely changing how'd they react right from the start. She would not 'groan' at the word mudblood, she'd punch him in the face and hex him. That would be believable. And when she found out her parents were tortured, she'd immediately lose her mind. How can you still call her clever and strong and amazing if she's not fighting back?
