Nice. The idea of Katara struggling to re-find the poetic beauty she once saw in her homeland, now that she's been elsewhere and seen so much more; and Zuko who sees all of her when Aang has stopped looking. And wonders, idly, if she could bend the darker aspects of his family's linege, out of him.

And still, the colours they could have worn, and what could have been, haunt them. The hope and possibility: dead. But still beautiful.

This is a masterpiece.
I have read my fair share of oneshots and nothing is as incredibly, perfectly written as yours. Somes are bittersweet and angsty, my type, but has long wordings. Some has plot, but characterization sucks. Your fic manages to have a poetic narrative, angsty plot and accurate characterization. It left me with a sense of loss, of bittersweet feelings, of pity for the couple. The way you handle their emotions, their regrets is simply beautiful and it has made me shed tears. I truly love this fic.

I cried at the very last sentence. It came outta nowhere! It was very angsty but I just let a few tears slip at 'In her dreams, she wears red'. That broke my heart. She did not CHOOSE Aang, it was an obligation, she had a choice to be happy. She knew which road would take her where. She just happened to choose her wrong destiny. Poor Zuko. :'( very well written, I mean just wow! It was magnificently perfect ;)
