The Egoist's Girlfriend chapter 8 . 8/6/2013 THANK YOU! Omg thank you. This will help me a lot since I'm an ameture cosplayer. So thanks again |
The Silent Stalker chapter 8 . 9/19/2012 I am a veteran cosplayer and I love these tips. This year I want to go as Spain, but I wear glasses and have brown eyes. I need my glasses so I can see. Also I make my own cosplays because money is always tight with my family. I get compliments, but there are some who make suggestive comments and It's embarrassing to me. And there are some who are downright rude and they boast they bought theirs, which make me feel bad. Once it got so bad, a VA from Hetalia, Germany's, had to break up a group of girls harassing me because of my Homemade cosplay. I was grateful and he gave me an autograph, but fact of the matter is and this is a warning to all: If someone is harassing you, get help ASAP. It is more fruitful to get help from the hotel/convention staff, security, any VA's on break, or if you're with a friend and their parent, call your friend and tell them where you are and to call their parents to help. |
Firetan chapter 8 . 6/1/2012 Ne. . . I don't know if you're still doing this fic, but I was wondering about cosplay. I've been a little interested since I became friends with a cosplayer last summer, but I don't know if or where I would/should start, and if it would make me even more of a weirdo. . . And I'm also pretty sure my parents would think it's not the best hobby to take up, though they wouldn't object. What should I do? I don't know if I want to try or not, but it does seem a little fun even though I really don't know that much about it. . . Sorry for the trouble, Nihon-sempai. |
Dionnysia chapter 8 . 5/29/2012 Thanks for sharing all of these useful tips regarding cosplaying. I'd like to mention one thing that people might keep in mind for shoes, particularly any new shoes: Be sure to break in the shoes before wearing them with the cosplay, particularly boots or heels. |
Girlygeek43 chapter 3 . 3/4/2012 Here's a good eye makeup tip. Whatever you do invest in a brush for your makeup, sponge tip applicators absorb eyeshadow, can't be cleaned in time because sponges take forever to dry, and are a complete waste of money and unsanitary since when you put it back in it's packaging and it will spread bacteria all over your makeup worse when it's not dried in time when you try to clean it, it will possibly gain mold and even more bacteria. So invest in a brush because they can be cleaned and usually dry faster. I recommend brushes from MAC, sure they're expensive but they're worth it because if you take care of them properly they can last you for years, and it's not surprising because MAC brushes are made by hand not machine. It's all about quality, so another tip is to test your makeup's quality a few weeks or days in advance so it will last the whole day, your foundation won't oxidize on you, your eyeshadow primer doesn't make your shadow crease, and over all that your makeup doesn't melt off. One tip to prevent foundation from melting off is to use face primer on where it tends to get oily. Also, if you're not into using brush cleaner because you feel it's too expensive, purchase antibacterial dishwashing liquid and extra virgin olive oil as a brush cleaner. It's very simple to do it's cheap, and oil painters use this technique to clean their brushes. Drizzel on some dishwashing liquid onto a plate and then a little bit of extra virgin olive oil. It should be about 2 parts of the soap and 1 part olive oil. And don't worry about the olive oil it doesn't clog your pores at all, it's used to condition your brushes because using the dish washing liquid by itself will strip your brushes of good moisture. So after you've got your cleaner on a plate swirl your brush around a little and then wipe it back and forth on a clean palm to work it in. Then rinse your brushes out until you can't see any soap bubbles anymore, also remember to use just warm water hot water will damage your brushes. So after they're rinsed take a paper towel and blot the excess water before letting them dry with the bristles facing down. Do not do it with the bristles facing up because that will loosen your brushes' glue and the bristles will start to fall out. |
H3taliafan chapter 4 . 2/11/2012 hi, as you can see i'm a pretty big hetalia fan and this year i'm going into year 7(i have the bottom locker DX) and i was thinking of trying to cosplay for my camp talent show and realised my hair/bangs is quite similar to china's but i think it would be better to use his uniform instead of his casual wear because only one of my friends/classmates know the show and might find it slightly offensive so i was wondering what i could do to do his uniform because the closest i have are some baggy pants with a camouflage pattern on it -_- and i'm trying to save up for my first con that will most likely be on my birthday/weekend over my birthday so i need help with the costume. |
bunney20 chapter 4 . 2/8/2012 hello i was wondering if you could do a chapter on working with your own hair, for example Korea's hair style or Italy |
Girlygeek43 chapter 4 . 2/7/2012 Wouldn't using a brush for foundation be better than using a sponge or your hands? I mean with a brush you don't throw it out and brushes don't produce oil. I know some people complain about streaky brush marks but it can be avoided if you make criss cross motions by brushing foundation in one direction and then going in the opposite direction. |
Hotaru-Naichingeru chapter 4 . 2/7/2012 Thank you very much! Although I think one will just film. But your tips are amazing Japan! Also, about the scrubbing the week before, do you suggest using acne medication on the day of the Convention, or could that cause a problem with the makeup. I use a special acid soap, so I don't want to hurt my skin. |
Hotaru-Naichingeru chapter 3 . 2/5/2012 Hello Japan! I'm new to cosplaying, but I'm used to conventions. However, 2 of my male friends are going to join our group. They don't know much of Hetalia, and one is scared/doesn't want to dress up. How can I convince them, without being pushy? And should we start off at smaller conventions, so that they get used to it a good idea? |
mitzie-chan219 chapter 3 . 2/3/2012 Hi! I was wondering if you could help me since this us the furst closplay I'm gonna do you see I'm gonna go cosplay as Canada but theres a problem I'm a girl so I,m not sure what to do also I have been having trouble doing his voice. |
ElegantIllusionist chapter 2 . 1/25/2012 Hello! I have a question. I am planning to go to a convention cosplaying as Austria. For my wig, it requires Mariazell (his curl) to stay up in place. How do I get it to stay properly for a long period of time? |
ohhthegreatestblinkinglight chapter 2 . 1/24/2012 Nihao. I'm planning on cosplaying as china, and I dont need a wig but I do need help on how to edit my oufit since I'm not buying a cosplay. Any ideas? |
Girlygeek43 chapter 2 . 1/24/2012 Is it possible to try and skip the sectioning, especially if you have long but thin hair? Because all of that sectioning is time consuming. Can't we just take our hair, make a flat bun around our head, pin it with bobby pins and make adjustments after putting the cap on? Because doing little sections take way too much time. |
