| Joe Lawyer chapter 7 . 2/4/2019 This was interesting and funny at times. I skipped it the first time I looked through your story list because I've never in my life seen an episode of Red Dwarf, though I had heard of it before. It lacked much in the way of direction though, so it was hard to really get into it. Even something as ethereal as 'Wanting to go on an adventure in the multi-verse.' would have been sufficient to guide the story. In this case, they're getting some advanced technology with which to improve the Red Dwarf, which is good, especially with the nanites looking for jobs to do. Short hops can be fun, but I would relish the chance to see them go to various universes and travel around for quite a while in their ship, experiencing new cultures, meeting new people, grabbing various new technologies to improve the ship with, helping an underdog survive extinction, etc. The Star Trek universe has a plethora of tech (replicators, tractor beams, transporters, warp drive) that could improve the Red Dwarf, technology so ubiquitous and had by so many different species that they could probably just buy it for valuable materials they mine elsewhere, rather than trading technology that could disrupt the balance of power or harm a race's development. Organic Willow not getting with the program was a bit disappointing, but holo Willow was likely to get some upgrades. I feel silly writing a review for a story that was abandoned years ago, but eh, whatever. Still a fun read. |
