Woah.. I gotta say, why the hell did I just found this now? I like how you created another world with their own different cultures and such. I don't know much about Korean culture (as you said that many elements are based on that), so I was pretty much as lost as Takasugi. And the heterochromia thing too.. all I can say is that I'm glad you gave that trait to the Asato people to make them unique from other races. (Am I the only one thinking that since Takasugi has one eye covered, it can be used as an advantage later in the future for him to pretend to be one of them or something?)

Tbh, I'm not too fond of reading stories with OCs as one of the protagonists that much, and the thought of Takasugi having a love interest due to his personality was far off from my mind. But this story definitely won me over. You were able to keep him in character as far as I could tell, and Suseri isn't a Mary-Sue at all. I rather like her character. The slow progression of their romance was planned perfectly. The crystal scene and the story about Suseri's name was one of my favourites too. The crystal scene showed a great metaphor about their point of views on humans, yet both opinions are true. It's like they balance each other out. And I definitely saw the foreshadowing about the story telling of her name. Looking forward for the next chapter!

Sorry I didn't reply to your reply from the last chapter- life has been slightly hectic recently :/ I really felt for poor Suseri when she saw Takasugi before she left; come on Shinsuke, wake up & put the poor girl (& yourself) of her misery! I love how Takasugi is so... naive isn't the right word but it's the closest which comes to mind right now, but he is so unaware of how they always seem to drift back to each other. It's not that he relies on her medical or cultural knowledge anymore- they just tiptoe around their as-yet-unnoticed feelings. It gives me epic feels! :D and yes, he is still in-character! Good luck with the exam! :)

You can say I'm surprised to find such well-written Gintama OC fics (not that the rest are poorly written, but yours is the one I like best so far) and the fact that you're still continuing it (a lot of good fics had been abandoned, I'm sad). And I truthfully didn't mind a little bit OOCness ('coz you're not Sorachi-sensei). So far, you have my best regards *grins*

I was roaming around looking around fics *cough*stalking-my-betareader*cough* and thought of reading this.. I always thought I needed to learn more about Takasugi's personality, since it is very hard to catch. And the first thing to say is that you had done it very well.. too well. I am actually taken aback by that there weren't not just a single time he was OOC. I liked the fact that it actually takes very long for him to warm up to these people and the slowly building up romance between him and Suseri.

Now, since I mentioned Suseri I gotta say that she's easily like-able. I love that she's very simple-minded, but can still handle up a conversation with someone like Takasugi with his mysteriousness and gloominess. I'm used to that women in Gintama are physically strong and all, but even Suseri isn't that, I liked how you showed her strength in a different way. (fighting off thugs for her village and going to the palace for her father)
Another thing I like: Takasugi's inability to be without Suseri. He just wondering around and searching for her is just too cute in my opinion.

And yeah, the way you actually created a new culture for a planet and all.. *thumbs up* and the crystal- metaphor also very good. Suseri talking about human being all shiny and sublime, when Takasugi shows the dark side of the humans, talking about how fragile they are and all. They truly suit for each other the best.

But yeah I think I nagged about how awesome this fic is enough and I find no flaws at all.

I wish you keep doing the good work and I'm waiting for your further updates. And no worries I tend to be calm and patient when it comes to very good stories like this. *squirms*

*takes nachos* You know what is interesting about your story? First of all, there is no way to say Takasugi is out of character. Nice thing is that you develop their feelings towards each other very slowly, what makes a good impression on me, since it feels more realistic. And there is also the amazing way you developed Suseri. I could spend a whole hour talking about how much I admire her development as a character, you know? Of course I want to know what will happen between Takasugi and her, but that's not all. I'm actually pretty curious to know more about her, as much as I wanna know if she will succeed in her goal.
Well, I think this is it. I'm not sure if I have something else to say. Looking forward to the next chapter, specially that important scene that you originally wanted to put in this one. I'm dying of curiosity XD

So rarely do I find authors who could pull that heterochromia thing without being too Mary Sue. And whats more? You managed to flesh her out as if she was a real actual person. I'm starting to ask myself why I haven't heard about this story before. It's amazing, and probably the only xOC story that I truly enjoyed so far. Your plot is great, and I see in it a good way to explore Takasugi's personality, just like you did in this chapter. And hey, things were not cheesy (but if you excuse me, I'll take the nachos anyway XD). I enjoyed pretty much everything about this chapter, specially that crystal conversation. It was like... wow. You got me with that one. Don't worry, Takasugi is completely into character here - at least in my opinion.
