Bravo! So sad, and I've got mixed feelings about the ending. Yes it was so nice to end it as if we could leave it to our imaginations since it never said merlin dies. On the other hand it wasn't enough, and i just really want to know if he lived or not (hopefully lived :P) Great fic, well witten :)

Oh. This one-shot gave me feelings, it did. As much as I didn't want to let this fic go, that was a brilliant place to end the story. Everyone managed to make a spectacular mess of things trying to fulfil their destinies and it all ended up as a Charlie Foxtrot. You've pretty much gotten the whole essence of the show across!

Maybe it's just me but I'm still a bit confused on what actually went down during the night Arthur got re-admitted into the hospital. Apart from that, this story is gorgeous! There were bits that had me grinning from ear to ear and then there were the excruciating, tragic bits (oh, oh, all the foreshadows). I loved all of them; but the line that really rendered my heart into much ground-upon bits was, "But how does the story end, Arthur? What about the peasant – he got hurt, right?"

The fic would have worked very well in its tragicness without the story (a story within a story, ha!), I would think, but adding the reference to their namesakes in really clinched it. This was a beautiful, poignant, not-so-little piece that was very much steeped in reality. Thank you for sharing!

Oh god. This is brilliant. Seriously though - terribly sad. Especially the ending. Because Merlin DIES and that isn't good, especially after Arthur is his friend and has lost his prattishness. And I seem to be liking Modern AUs more and more now - I love your references to the middle-ages Merlin.
And you write brilliantly.

So I think you got the emotion and feelings conveyed brilliantly! seriously, other than a few spelling errors, this is perfect! I'd thank you for a brilliantly written fic if you hadn't ripped out my heart and stAMPED ON IT! (But seriously this is amazing!)

I really enjoyed this, and the doctor/lawyer combination wasn't one I've seen before in an AU which is always an added bonus. It got a bit confusing at one point (where Arthur has to go into hospital and I couldn't work out what Merlin was doing) but it was just the one and it was cleared up later on.

Other than that, a nicely done AU with lots of drama (and, along that line, you couldn't bash out another chapter please, one where Merlin lives and it's all fine?)
